🇺🇸 As the 4th of July approaches this week, please keep our wildlife in mind. 🐦🦉🐢
While fireworks are a fun tradition for many families, they can be terrifying for wildlife. Loud explosions often trigger what’s known as “fright flight,” causing birds to panic and slam into the sides of their enclosures or attempt to escape. Every year, otherwise healthy birds in rehabilitation suffer broken feathers, injuries, and sometimes even fatal trauma because of fireworks.
It’s not just wildlife—many pets experience intense fear and anxiety as well.
If you plan to celebrate, please consider ways to help reduce the impact:
🎆 Keep fireworks away from wooded areas and wildlife habitats.
🐾 Bring pets indoors before dark and keep them in a secure, quiet place.
🦅 Be mindful that injured and orphaned wildlife are especially vulnerable this time of year.
Every small act of kindness helps protect the creatures we share this world with.
Thank you for helping us give wildlife a better chance. ❤️
