Faith Fueled Mama I am a disabled mom of 6 beautiful children. I am fueled by hugs, kisses and most importantly, my faith.

When I was in middle school, I attended Tabernacle Baptist Church in Carrollton, Georgia - in what I lovingly call “the glory years” when it still sat off the town square.

Our youth minister was phenomenal. His name was Bill Christian, and I still remember one lesson he taught us nearly 40 years later. We were sitting criss-cross on the floor when he talked about the importance of falling in love with someone who loves the Lord. At 13 years old, I soaked it up like a sponge. But last Sunday morning? I finally understood exactly why it mattered.

I woke up at 7am already mentally behind. I needed to make pasta salad and cheese dip for Mother’s Day by the pool. I needed to unload the dishwasher, pack Bo’s lunch, make homemade bread, drink my coffee, and stare silently into space while contemplating my entire existence.

By 8:45, I had already missed the 8am church service. The 9:30 wasn’t looking promising either. The 11:15 was technically doable, but my guests were arriving at 1. I’d be cutting it close. That’s when my husband spoke up.

“What are you doing?”

“What’s it LOOK like I’m doing?” (And yes, I already had tone.)

“Are we not going to church?”

“I don’t know.”

“We need to go.”

Then I gave him my full TED Talk about everything I still needed to accomplish. And that’s when he hit me with, “Well, your priorities are screwed up, and your butt needs to be in church.”

Rude. Accurate. But rude.

So I fired back with, “I talk to God every day. I’m in the Word every day. I think I’m fine.”

And then he said the line that shut me completely down, “But this isn’t about you. Our boy needs to see us in church.”

Whew. I wanted to argue. But he was right. I’ve written before about Mary and Martha, and I quickly realized something. I am Martha down to my core. Busy. Distracted. Scurrying around trying to make everything “perfect” while missing what mattered most. And that’s exactly why who you marry matters.

Because left to myself, I would’ve skipped church without a second thought and justified every bit of it. But a Godly spouse pulls you back when life starts pulling you away. Not with perfection. Not with legalism. But with accountability.

I’m convinced the downfall of America is happening quietly within the walls of our homes. We won’t miss ball practice, a dance recital, our gym time, hair appointments, vacations, dinner reservations, or company parties. But somehow, worshipping God together as a family is now “optional.”

And whether we realize it or not, our children are paying attention. And, one day they’ll build homes that look a whole lot like the ones they grew up in. Let’s make sure they build on solid rock.

Signed,
Mighty Convicted

“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6

I love that our Heavenly Father is okay with us asking Him why. Especially in our tough seasons. We don't understand His answers sometimes or His reasoning. However, if we just trust Him, like we trust our earthly parents, we grow and we learn.

I don't understand why God has allowed Dylan to leave this earth but I trust and believe that He has a plan. God has something special planned for those who are going to receive his organs.

Dylan, you are already missed but you had a beautiful send-off... From what I could see of it anyway 😭 I wish I could have hugged your Mama's pain away from her! And to watch MY babies cry for their baby brother ripped my heart out!

While we move on to the next stage of grief, I trust that our Heavenly Father is going to cover us in His peace! 🕊️✝️

After a long day in the infusion center, I had a couple stops to make before I could go home. I wasn't feeling well and was more than ready to lay down in a dark room.
Several cars ahead of me, I noticed cars stopping right before the tracks, and then they'd dart over them. Then, I heard the horn of the train.
There were three cars in front of me. By the sound of the train, I was pretty confident that it was close and none of us would make it across.
After 3 minutes of sitting there, this unusually long train slows down to a crawl and eventually to a stop. The first car wiggled his little cube out of his spot and turned around.
That gave the second vehicle, a pickup truck, space to be able to turn around as well. The third vehicle moved up to take first place.
I stayed right where I was JUST IN CASE I decided to turn around, or if the guy in front of me decided he wanted to back up and change direction.
After a couple more minutes, I noticed that people behind me were becoming impatient. They'd pass my car and turn down the road beside me that looked like all it did was run beside the tracks for miles.
I had never been down that road before so I didn't know where it led to. Would it actually get me to where I'm headed faster? Or, would it clear up as soon as I follow them?
At that moment, I heard a whisper say, "Are you going to follow the crowd or are you going to take the road less traveled?" Directly after that, I thought, "Was that the Lord talking to me or was that just my thoughts?" 🤦🏻‍♀️😂
I decided to get a picture of that neverending train (or what felt like it anyway) in case it was the Lord talking to me.
Visual reminders help me to know what He wants me to write about. I just have to wait for Him to tell me when to write it. That moment came when I read yesterday's verse of the day on YouVersion, Matthew 7:13-14 NIV.

Obviously, I'm not saying that following those vehicles is going to lead to destruction but the point is still the same. Choosing the faster, easier, more popular road is not always the best decision.
Just like with our lives and our decisions. Following Jesus is not always easy, BUT it is ALWAYS and FOREVER WILL BE worth it!

While my kids began their day utilizing their Atlanta CityPass, I went to Dollar Tree to pass the time until my best friend of 27 years arrived. The item I needed wasn't available at that specific location, so I decided to go a few miles away to another location.

I recognized some landmarks on my way there and many memories rushed in. When the bad memories flooded my good ones, it began to physically hurt my heart. Around the time I experienced these unexpected emotions, I drove up on a roundabout that didn't use to be there.

The chiropractor I used to see was now a different business altogether and all the places I recognized didn't seem so recognizable anymore. The new bridges, on and off ramps, and new exit numbers were foreign to me.

In that moment, God showed me that my life has changed even more than the roads in Atlanta. He showed me that when I repented of my sins, my life did a roundabout and I shouldn't recognize anything from my past because everything has been made new. The peace that He gave me took over all the emotions I felt. 🙌🏼

Then, my best friend arrived. Although we always pick up where we left off the last time we spoke, even our friendship completely turned around. In our lives, we went from drinking alcohol to drinking living water, from gossiping to testifying, from complaining to praying, from putting our hands on our hips (Da’ Dip - Does this show our age? 😂) to putting our hands in the air... Not like we don't care but in praise! 🙌🏼

I praise God that I don't live in the past anymore, figuratively, literally, and spiritually. I praise God for my “iron sharpens iron” friendships! I praise God that he allows me to change direction or to do a complete U-turn! 🙌🏼

From the manger to the cross... From the cross to the grave...
From the grave to the sky...

He is risen indeed!

May God's fire burn in your hearts forever.
May His wings cover and protect you, and your families.
May His son, the greatest man in history, who had no servants, yet was called master, had no degree, yet was called teacher, had no medicines, yet was called healer, He had no army, but kings feared him, He won no military battles, yet conquered the world, He committed no crimes, yet they beat and hung him on a tree, He was buried in a tomb, rose in three days and lives today through people like you.

Thank you for seeing our worth and not defining us by our past and for having the faith that we can all be changed for the Glory of God.

Love in Christ,

Bill & Michelle Ellis
