Mystic Tides Co. has been ABSOLUTELY slammed lately embroidery machine running, thread flying, orders stacked up, and me basically living in my workroom. 😂🧵

But apparently, my other personality Feral Turtle Volunteer had different plans this week. 🐢

Monday, I had to temporarily abandon the embroidery chaos to go watch 1 Loggerhead sea turtle get released back into the Gulf.

Then Tuesday rolled around and the turtles said, “You thought you were working today? That’s cute.” 😂

So off I went AGAIN for the release of 3 more Loggerheads. 🐢🐢🐢

That makes 4 Loggerheads in 2 days.

Normal people take lunch breaks.

I take FERAL TURTLE BREAKS. 😂🐢🌊

When you’re part of the Share the Beach Orange Beach team, sometimes you just have to drop the thread, leave the hoops where they are, and go watch a sea turtle head home.

Was I behind on work afterward?

Only a few hours, but all caught up again after staying up late.

Was it worth it?

ABSOLUTELY.

The turtles are back in the Gulf, I’m back behind the embroidery machine, and Mystic Tides Co. has officially returned to its regularly scheduled program of thread, hats, shirts, orders, and complete organized chaos. 😂🧵

But seriously, thank you all for keeping Mystic Tides Co. so busy and for supporting my small, local, veteran-owned business. I truly appreciate every order that comes through my door and allowing me to occasionally disappear into my Feral Turtle Volunteer era. 🐢💙

Now… back to work before another turtle calls me away.

🇺🇸 September 11, 2001 - September 11, 2026.
25 Years later. 2,977 lives lost.
Never forgotten.

Twenty-five years ago today, I sat holding my newborn baby and watched something unfold that I will never forget.

I had been out of the Army for only three months. One chapter of my life had just ended, and I was beginning another as a new mother. Then, in a matter of moments, the world changed.

What made it even more surreal was watching it happen in and around the state where I was born and raised. These weren’t distant places on a television screen to me. This was my home state, the state where I just ended my military career, and the state that holds our president and a history of many that lead our country. I watched the smoke, the fear, the confusion, the bravery, and the unimaginable loss while holding my baby and wondering what kind of world we were now going to raise our children in.

That day, 2,977 innocent people lost their lives.

Mothers. Fathers. Husbands. Wives. Sons. Daughters. Friends. Coworkers. Firefighters. Police officers. First responders. Military personnel. Ordinary people who woke up that morning expecting it to be just another Tuesday.

It wasn’t.

We also witnessed extraordinary courage. People ran toward danger when everyone else was running away. Strangers helped strangers. First responders climbed stairwells knowing they might never come back down. Americans stood together in a way that those of us who lived through that day will never forget.

Twenty-five years have passed, but I can still remember exactly what it felt like sitting there holding my newborn and watching our country change before my eyes.

Today, I remember the 2,977 lives taken far too soon, the families who carried that loss forward, the survivors, the first responders, and everyone whose life was forever changed on September 11, 2001.

May we continue to tell their stories.

May we remember the courage.

May we remember how united we once were.

And most importantly…

May we never forget. 🇺🇸
