When I bought the store in June 2017, I inherited a store with Star Wars themed turntables and posters of bands I did not know or enjoy (except Replacements, The Jam and Clash stuff). Maybe 2-3 months into my tenure a tall thin British gent (Martin my audio genius) walking a chihuahua paid me a visit. I’ve always enjoyed the world of vintage audio gear, and our friendship and partnership has allowed me to share that with many of you.

Bill is a gem, truly enthusiastic about music and loves helping people get properly set up with what you need. He had a colleague (believe Martin is their name) who helps with fixing older gear and got my player working perfectly again! Could not have asked for a better experience. “

Those in the know realize I’ve been putting out my personal collection of records every week or so.

Two high end pieces of equipment, The PS Audio 5.0 preamp and the Bryston 14BSST 300 watt per channel power amplifier that have been paired in my shop for quite a while

From the mid 1980s the PS Audio 5.0 preamplifier has setting for moving magnet and moving coil cartridges, pairs wonderfully with this killer Bryston

$425 for PS Audio 5.0

Bryston 14BSST 300 watt per channel power amplifier into 8 Ohms, likely built late 2002 or early 2003. This “rock solid” Canadian born beauty came with the famous 20 year warranty and shows no signs of letting up. Original box and materials available

My son Blake has been at my side for various shows I’d perhaps not have gone to, bands like Linkin Park, Ghost, and Rise Against. Each had merit but Rise Against had a four album run that I struggle to choose or rank!!

This 2018 career vinyl box set on clear vinyl features their albums from 2001-2017

2004 Siren Song of the Counter Culture
2006 The Suffer & the Witness
2008 Appeal to Reason
2011 Endgame

These four are fantastic and I saw them various times and loved every minute especially the songs from these albums which for me was their peak a great 7 year run.

Nothing wrong with the two released before 2004 and after Endgame in 2011, just not as perfect as those four are for me

Wonderful boxed set beautiful 28 page booklet in a flip style self contained box as shown in photos

As record lovers, we come to the point where we walk the line of being a “collector”!

Sure there is joy in finding gems in the $1, $3 and $5 to increase the size of your stash. The great Willie Nile, Mike Bloomfield, and Ramsey Lewis can be wonderful finds for almost nothing!

Then you see the fancy stuff on the wall,
from David Axelrod to Plantasia to Billy Joe Shaver to Jethro Tull to the debut release of The Druids of Stonehenge from 1967 cool garage psych record!

How do you know when to jump out and get out of the bargain bins and start exploring what makes a record collectible and unique and valuable

It all starts with a trip to your favorite record shop, and ask to hear and do some research on some of these “grails”!
