Hello Anglers. Tony just returned from another successful trip chartered by Erik Bergstrom from Fort Collins Colorado. Erik and his group have been fishing with Tony for the past 40 years. Tony reports that they fished around La Guardia island where they found plenty of live bait making it possible for them to catch Cabrillas, Red Snappers, Barred Pargos and lots of Bass. Tony says this group enjoys spending lots of time snorkeling and swimming in the beautiful Sea of Cortez. They had a barbeque dinner with carne asada, sushi and sashimi. They even had live music performed by Pancho. The weather ,wind, was a problem for the first couple of days but then it straightened out and the trip continued returning to San Felipe Friday evening. Hi Anglers.

Tony just returned from a trip chartered by David Dang from Valley Village, California. Unfortunately, David could not make the trip as he came down with an illness the day before departure and had to return home from San Felipe for treatment. We all wish him a speedy recovery.
Tony reports they had good sailing conditions going into the Sea of Cortez, so they stopped at Angel De La Guardia island to start the trips fishing. They landed Grouper, Cabrilla and Yellowtail at that stop, then moved to Snake island where they caught Bass and Cabrilla. Next stop was Salipuedes island for more Cabrilla, some big, some small that were released. During the night they moved to San Francisquito to fish Wednesday morning and try to catch live bait in the bay. Not successful catching bait there as the bay was infested with Sharks. They moved to another spot to catch the live bait. The following morning was more productive, catching Yellowtail, Bass, Broomtail Grouper, Snapper and some Baquetas ( Leather fish ) at and around San Lorenzo island. After this they sailed to Enchanted islands where they landed Cabrilla and Barred Pargo. The trip ended with good weather for the trip back to San Felipe.

TONY REYES FISH REPORT FOR THE JUNE 28 – JULY 3 TRIP



TONY REYES REPORTED HAVING A GOOD TRIP WITH NICE WEATHER WITH SOME CLOUDY DAYS AND LOW HUMITITY. MOST OF THE FISH WERE CAUGHT THROWING JIGS AND TROLLING.

THE BOAT ‘TONY REYES’ FISHED SOME OF THE BEST SPOTS IN THE MIDRIFF ISLANDS INCLUDING SAN FRANCISQUITO, LA RAZA AND ANGEL DE LA GUARDIA. THE LAST DAY HAD LOTS OF BROKEN LINES LEAVING ANGLERS EAGER TO RETURN FOR ANOTHER 6 DAYS OF FISHING, CATCHING AND RELAXING.

THIS WAS A CHARTERED TRIP LED BY ROGER ROHM AND MITCH FORWARD, LONG TIME TONY REYES CUSTOMERS AND FRIENDS. THEY FISHED THE SAN FRANCISQUITO AREA ON UP TO LA RAZA AND ANGEL DE LA GUARDIA ISLANDS.

Hi Anglers. I have been out of town for a couple of weeks that's why there has been no fish report. Tony has been sending them to me, but I could not figure out how to get them from my cell phone to your e-mail. Old guy... The fish counts have been very very good with a Black Sea Bass over 300 lbs. being landed as well as several nice size Grouper. The Yellowtail continue to be on the large size for this time of year, and the Cabrilla bite is outstanding with good numbers of both being landed. Tony has been fishing San Franciscito area along with Las Animas and Partida. They had some wind the last day of this trip. The trip was led by Charter Master Vic Hollmann from Mesa, Arizona.

TONY'S BOAT THE "TONY REYES" RETURNED LAST NIGHT FROM A VERY SUCCESSFUL TRIP INTO THE BEAUTIFUL SEA OF CORTEZ, BAJA, MEXICO. THE TRIP WAS LED BY ERIC MILLER FROM THE LONGFIN TACKLE STORE ACCOMPANIED BY HIS WIFE CINDY AND SON KYLE. TONY REPORTS THEY HAD NICE WEATHER WITH COMFORTABLE TEMPERATURES.
TONY SAYS THEY RETURNED WITH 315 YELLOWTAILS, 218 CABRILLAS, 14 SHEEPHEAD, 156 BASS, 4 AMBERJACK, NICE GROUPER, BARRED PARGOS AND AROUND 430 RELEASED AND MISCELLANEOUS FISH. ERIC REPORTS HIS PANGA RELEASED OVER 120 YELLOWTAILS AND MANY CABRILLAS AS WELL AS OTHER FISH. RAMON, A GUIDE, COMMENTED THAT HE HAD NEVER SEEN SO MANY QUALITY FISH RELEASED.
THEY FISHED THE SAN FRANCISQUITO AREA WHERE THE YELLOWTAILS WERE BITING AND LARGE SCHOOLS WERE CHASING BAIT. LA GUARDIA ISLAND HELD GOOD NUMBERS OF CABRILLAS IN THE 12 LB. RANGE. NO MACKERAL HAS SHOWED UP YET SO JIG FISHING IS THE NAME OF THE GAME AND THE FISH WERE READY TO PLAY. TONY SAYS SEVERAL GROUPERS WERE LOST TO THE ROCKS AND REEFS.
THIS IS TRIP NUMBER 3 OF THE SEASON AND THEY ALL HAVE BEEN VERY PRODUCTIVE. TONY HAS SOME OPENINGS THIS YEAR AS THE PAST VOILENCE IN MAINLAND MEXICO HAS CAUSED SOME WIFES TO MAKE THEIR HUSBANDS CANCEL THEIR TRIP. YOU CAN CHECK FOR THE OPEN SPOTS AT WWW.TONYREYES.COM

Tony returned from a very successful trip led by the "Let's Talk Hook Up " Brandon Hayward, creator of "The Bight Journal". They enjoyed good weather along with plenty of fish, several large Groupers and a good size Black Sea Bass. They landed 298 Yellowtails up to 26 Lbs. Cabrillas up to 28 Lbs. The catch also included Pargo's, Spotted Bass, Red Snappers, and Giant Squid. They fished Refugio, Snake Island, Salsipuedes, Barnabe Reef, Punta final and Enchanted Island. Tony says anglers need to be prepared for casting jigs, trolling, Jigging, some heavy-duty Grouper bait fishing and Squid jigging. Variety is the name of the game with The Tony Reyes boat being the only sport boat fishing from San Felipe now for the last 7 years. Previously, there were 5 boats going out weekly. The quantity and quality of the catch improve from year to year now reminding me of when I started fishing from San Felipe 45 years ago.
Tony is having many anglers cancel this year because of the Cartel violence in Mexico. Tony says "San Felipe is a quiet ,small fishing town ,120 miles from the border, with few problems. He says the violence is centered in Mexico mainland and in border towns for the most part. He understands people's concern and he wants to assure everyone that these trips are safe and secure. The 2026 Tony Reyes fishing tours kickoff trip just returned to port.

Fish report:

Hi Anglers
We had our first trip from this season We started fishing in the southern areas of San Francisquito Bay, finding good-sized yellowtail and cabrillas. The weather was pleasant with calm seas, and some giant squid were caught here. Afterwards we sailed north, reaching Snake Island to fish. In this area, large schools of fish fed on the surface. More jacks and mackerel were caught here, many small species were released here such as pretty little yellowtail and small grouper. We found fish in practically every area we visited. On the last day, we fished in the Enchanted Islands, with a moderate west wind blowing. big barred pargos were biting here,
best lures were Nomad 165. Yo-Zuri lures, and orange All the fish were caught by casting small jigs, and sometimes larger fish were caught trolling with mirror lures and NOMADS 165. There was also a little fishing on the bottom.
