🌲 The Redwood family has found its voice.

Four instruments, born from one great tree, now stand complete — each carrying the elemental character of the wood they came from, awakened into new life as instruments of sound.

This coming Friday and Saturday, I have the honor of sharing their story at the pre-concert talk of the Orcas Island Chamber Music Festival — a conversation on what it means to bring an instrument's soul into being. And then, a moment I can hardly put into words: the world-renowned Miró Quartet will play Puccini's "Crisantemi" on these very instruments.

To hear the tree sing, after all this time — it is more than I could have hoped for.

☀️ A Sunbath for New Life

After their bath in water and wind, the four instruments of my Redwood string quartet now rest in the sun. Its UV light slowly penetrates layer after layer of varnish — a patient, elemental process that cannot be rushed.

Soon they will sing their very first note. The great Redwood tree from which they were born awakens once more — its soul carried forward in sound.

A deep honor: these instruments will be played by the Miró Quartet at OICMF. 🎻

Today I started to build my first
REDWOOD STRING QUARTETT:-)
(2 Violin, 1 Viola, 1 Cello)
I feel very honored and it feels like a sacred act to aliven those ancient giant trees through my shaping hands.
