🎹 BEFORE & AFTER: 1920 Gulbransen Vintage Family Heirloom Player Piano Full Restoration!
Of the 100+ restorations we complete each year at Brigham Larson Pianos, only about 6 to 8 are these classic pneumatic pump players—making this project especially rewarding.
BEFORE:
The Inside: Severe loss of tone from dead, worn-out bass strings, heavily grooved hammers from decades of love, and worn-out dampers, shanks, and tuning pins.
The Outside: Deep scratches, a dull, worn finish, and a neglected backboard.
The Player Mechanism: Aged, leaking bellows that prevented the pneumatic player from operating properly.
AFTER:
The Inside: Complete action rebuild featuring copper bass strings by Gregor Heller in Germany, brand-new hammers, shanks, hammer butts, dampers, and fresh tuning pins torqued to perfection (100–120 lbs).
The Outside: Fully refinished exterior in the exact shade the owner remembers from his childhood, a pristine refinished cast-iron plate, polished pedals, and a beautifully restored back.
The Player Mechanism: Rebuilt and sealed pneumatic bellows—now 100% airtight, freshly painted, fully functional, and ready for another century of music.
