The latest of my builds is this rosewood/sitka dread that I fashioned after a Martin D-21--using Martin-style built blueprints. I have made dreadnoughts before, but in the past few years I have devoted my energies to my original designs. I felt inspired by watching videos of Doc Watson and Tony Rice to produce a classic dread, in feel and in sound, I think I was able to come close.
A D-21 is a lesser produced and recognized dread than a Martin D-28 or D-18. I like the use of woodbinding and herringbone rosette and aging toner.
If you're a flat-picker, this is the one to try and see if it fits all the boxes.
Dave.
