How to clean the Refrigerator after the Hurricane

For a no-rinse cleaning formula, use two tablespoons of baking soda dissolved in one quart of hot water.

For stubborn stains, create a baking soda paste with a small amount of water. Let the paste loosen the stain while you finish cleaning the rest of the fridge.
Return to this trouble spot at the end.

1. Clean the door seals: Wipe them down with the baking soda solution. Dry the seals and check that they seal properly. You may want to replace any cracked or worn seals to improve efficiency.

2. Clean the inside: Turn off the refridgerator and empty it completely, including removing drawers, bins and detachable shelves. Be extra cautious when handling glass shelves as they can be loose on top of the frames. Wipe down the interior of the fridge with the baking soda solution.

3. You can soak shelves, bins and drawers: Wash these removable items in warm soapy water. Let stubborn stains soak, and then scrub them clean. Rinse and dry before returning them to the fridge.

4. Be sure to turn the Refrigerator back on!

5. If you have a lingering odor: put a small plate or tray on the top shelf of the Fresh food section. Spread either baking soda, ground coffee or activated charcoal onto the plate. Repeat as needed.

RE: Should You Store Valuables in the Dishwasher? Dishwashers have a large opening in the bottom front of the tub. This is to allow air to enter the machine during the drying cycle as well as to not allow pressure to build inside the tub when it's operating. Your dishwasher is designed to keep water in Not keep water out.

Can't believe it's 2017 and people still fall for the 1970's marketing gimmick of "free service call with repair"

There is something here that shouldn't be. Can you spot it?

In the lower right area, the gray connection with the rusted screws is a refrigerant line tap.
While under warranty, the "authorized" servicer tapped a refrigerant line to perform service. Instead of sealing the system after the repair was complete, he left the tap on. This compromises the refrigerant system and can shorten the life of a refrigerator or result in a costly repair down the road.

The tell-tale sign of a Discount servicer. He twisted the wires together then covered them with electrical tape. You may also notice the evaporator is frosting up, which means his shabby fix didn't work (which is why they called us).
