Full circle moment! 🧵💜
I learned how to sew with my grandma through 4-H. Fast forward 14 years, and I just finished my first year judging for sewing, needle arts, and clothing projects at the Iowa State Fair 4-H department. My mom has been the sewing and clothing superintendent for 35+ years!
I’m so thankful to have the opportunity to give back to 4-H youth, just as so many adults poured into me during my time in the program. Over 300 projects came through the department, representing countless hours of creativity, hard work, learning, and dedication from these 4-Hers. It was so fun and I had the best time.
One project in particular really stuck with me. During college, I was involved in Dance Marathon and children’s miracle network. this week I had the opportunity to hear about Nash, his story, and the impact of the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital in this project. Seeing his story represented through a 4-H project was such a meaningful full-circle moment for me.
If you’re at the Iowa State Fair, be sure to check out all of these amazing projects August 13–23 in the 4-H Building! ❤️🍀
