Can birds get Cyclospora?

You've probably heard about recent cases of Cyclospora linked to fresh produce and may be wondering: Can my bird get sick from eating contaminated fruits or vegetables?

The good news is no. Based on current scientific evidence, birds are not known to become infected with Cyclospora cayetanensis—the parasite that causes cyclosporiasis in people.

That doesn't mean you should skip food safety, though. Fresh produce should always be washed thoroughly before it's served to your bird to help reduce exposure to bacteria, pesticides, and other contaminants.

Bottom line: Wash produce well, offer a balanced diet, and rest a little easier—Cyclospora isn't considered a risk for your feathered companion.

Oops... the post is late, but the chop wasn't!

The critters have already been enjoying it... We just forgot to tell all of you. 😅

This week's fresh lineup includes:
🥕 Carrots
🌿 Dandelion greens
🌱 Fennel
🥬 Bok choy
🍠 Sweet potato
🎃 Butternut squash
💛 Yellow squash
🌱 Radishes (with their nutritious tops!)

Fresh while supplies last!

Now if you'll excuse us... we going to add "remember to post" to our checklist. 😂

🦜 Sherbert Update! 🦜

First things first... THANK YOU!

We've been blown away by the comments, messages, and support you've shown Sherbert over the past week. To everyone who's been cheering him on, checking in, and trusting us with this next chapter of his journey... thank you. It means more than you know.

And to everyone who found Amazon Jungle because of Sherbert... Welcome to the Jungle! We're so glad you're here, and we hope you'll stick around long after Sherbert's story because there are plenty more feathered (and scaly!) adventures ahead.

One of our favorite things has been reading comments from those of you who know us personally saying things like, "He couldn't have landed on a better perch." We don't take words like that lightly. They remind us why we work so hard to provide the best care we possibly can for every animal that comes through our doors.

Now for the update!

✔ Sherbert's disease testing has come back clear.
✔ His wellness appointment with our avian veterinarian is scheduled for the end of the month.
✔ And maybe the biggest milestone of all... he's getting braver every single day.

We've caught him playing peekaboo from his cage door, proudly waving during his first attempt at coming out of his temporary cage, and yesterday he was even spotted trying to introduce himself to a new friend (He's clearly working on expanding his social circle. 😂)

Moving to a new home is a huge adjustment for any bird. Every day he chooses to explore a little farther, interact a little more, or try something new is a victory worth celebrating. And we are doing a lot of celebrating each day! Thanks for following along with Sherbert's journey. We have a feeling the best is still to come. 💚

Good news... Chop is ready!

Thanks for hanging in there with us yesterday! Baby season occasionally wins, but the wait is over and this week's fresh chop is ready to go.

This week's lineup includes:
Collard greens, Mustard greens, Bell peppers, Corn, Radishes (with tops!), Acorn squash, Turnip Greens

Simple? Yes. Nutritious? Absolutely.

One thing we've learned over the years is that healthy nutrition doesn't have to mean using 25 different ingredients every week. Building a chop around quality staple greens and a variety of colorful vegetables provides an excellent nutritional foundation while keeping mealtime interesting.

As always, every batch is made with fresh ingredients, plenty of variety, and a whole lot of thought.

Available fresh while supplies last!

And thank you again for your patience yesterday. Sometimes our tiniest customers remind us that hand-feeding comes first—and we're pretty sure you'd expect us to have it no other way. 💚

"Welcome to the Jungle, Sherbert!"

Many of you already know and love Sherbert. We want to begin by sincerely thanking his longtime family for trusting us with this next chapter in his life. We know how much Sherbert means to them and to so many of you, and we're honored they've placed that trust in us.

As the self-appointed King of the Jungle, Cody was the first to welcome Sherbert. (He takes his job very seriously.)

Now comes the important part...

Parrots aren't decorations—they're highly intelligent, emotional animals. A new environment means new sights, sounds, people, routines... and that's a lot to process. While everyone is excited to see Sherbert, we're going to let him decide when he's ready.

For now, he'll be spending time settling in behind the scenes, getting comfortable, and showing us his personality at his own pace.

Over the coming days and weeks, we'll get to know each other, learn what makes him happiest, and let Sherbert tell us what his future looks like. Our hope is simple: wherever Sherbert is happiest is exactly where we want him to be. Until then, we're just grateful to be part of his journey.

We'll be sharing updates as Cody helps show Sherbert around the Jungle, so stay tuned—you'll get to know him right alongside us.

Welcome to the Jungle, Sherbert. We're glad you're here. 💚

Chop day magic in fast‑forward ✨
Today’s mix is loaded with fresh goodness: beets, greens, sage, cauliflower, acorn squash, sweet potatoes, fennel, kale, brussel sprouts, green beans, and red cabbage.

New this week: tricolor quinoa (birds only).
Quinoa is one of the few plant foods with all nine essential amino acids, making it a fantastic nutrient boost for parrots — great for feathers, muscle health, and overall balance. It also adds a fun, nutty texture most birds go wild for.

You can use it raw to help soak up extra moisture in wet or thawed chop. Just rinse it really well first so it doesn’t carry that natural “soapy” taste.
