🎶🌿 More music is coming to the plant shop! 🌿🎶

We’re very excited to welcome Nathan Sprangers, a favorite local music teacher, to Mainely Succulents for private music lessons starting this fall!

He will be offering lessons for:
🎷 Beginner–advanced saxophone
🎺 Beginner–intermediate band instruments
🎹 Beginner piano

Whether your child is picking up an instrument for the first time or looking to grow their skills, Mr. Sprangers is creating a welcoming space to learn, practice, and make music — right here in our new arts space in downtown Orono.

Taking a little creative pause at The Plant Shop for the rest of August 🌞🌿✨

We’re using this time to pour our energy into upgrading our space. We’re getting the new clay studio dialed in and preparing for lots more workshops and creative experiences this fall.

We’ll be back September 3rd with our regular hours:

✨ LOOK WHAT YOU MADE! ✨

Our June & July pottery workshop pieces are out on display and ready for pickup! 🏺🤎 And we have to say… there are SO many incredibly cool pieces in this batch. We’re really happy with how they turned out!

We also learned a lot along the way — including getting to play around with some of our own glazes — and we’re continuing to fine-tune our process with every workshop. The system is getting more and more dialed in, and we’re SO excited to keep growing. Because there was so much interest in the workshops this summer we were able to create a clay studio and look forward to being able to host even more pottery workshops in the fall! (First two are officially posted on our website for September!)

If you attended one of our June or July workshops, your pieces will be ready for pickup this Thursday, 10–6.

Can’t make it Thursday? No worries! You can pick them up when we reopen in September, anytime during our regular open hours: Thursday–Saturday, 10–6.

Thank you for being part of this first round of workshops and for letting us learn, create, experiment, and grow alongside you. 🫶 We can’t wait to see what we make together next!

There’s something really special happening here lately. 🌿

People have been coming in to create, slow down, meet new people, learn something new, and leave feeling inspired — and that’s always been the goal.

This space is becoming more than a plant shop. It’s a place to wander through the plants, look at the art, sit in the cozy corners, make something with your hands, and feel connected for a little while.

We’ve been building this space with intention — somewhere creative, welcoming, a little wild, and full of life. Seeing people connect with it lately has meant everything to us.

Whether you’ve stopped in for a workshop, repotted a plant, brought a friend, had a private party here, or just came in to hang out for a bit… thank you for being part of it. 🤍

Since we sold out of our first pottery workshop so fast we are planning another!! We’re turning the plant shop into a pottery studio for the night and inviting you to come create with us!

Friday, June 12th
Drop in anytime between 4–7 PM
$25 per person
Limited spots available

Come try the pottery wheel, learn simple hand-building techniques, and create your own bowl, planter, plate, pot, or pinch pot. No experience needed — this is all about having fun, trying something new, and getting creative in community.

Your piece will stay with us after the event so we can glaze it in the color of your choice and fire it in the kiln for pickup later. ✨

And just so everyone knows… we are NOT professional pottery artists 😂 We just love pots, plants, art, and creating spaces where people can connect with themselves and each other.



These workshops are about slowing down, getting social, and making something with your hands.

As many of you know, the UMaine students have headed home for the summer, which means small businesses in our area enter a slower season. 🌿

For locals, summer in Orono can feel peaceful and quiet — but for small businesses, it can also be a challenging time. Since we’ve been open, in 2019, we have watched many businesses close because of this slow season we are about to enter.

At Mainely Succulents, we want to be more than just a plant shop. We want to be a space where people in our community come to create, connect, learn, and grow — just like the plants we care for every day. 🪴✨ We’ve got lots of fun workshops and community events coming up this summer, and we’d love for you to help us spread the word by inviting your friends to like our page and keep an eye out for upcoming workshops & events—-Pottery, planting, painting & more!!

And yes… it’s rainy again today ☔️ which makes it the perfect day to stop in and add a little color to your life. We’ve got fresh flowers from Paint Box Flowers arriving every Thursday, plus lots of thriving houseplants, succulents, local & handmade made gifts, thrifted & vintage clothing and cozy shop vibes waiting for you.

This spider plant is living her best life—pushing out pups, flowering, and spilling over like a whole vibe. If yours isn’t doing this yet, don’t worry… here’s the cheat code:

☀️ Bright, indirect light = more babies
💧 Let soil dry out between waterings (they hate soggy roots)
✂️ Don’t be afraid to trim or propagate those pups
🪴 Slightly snug pots actually encourage growth + babies
🌸 Bonus: those tiny white flowers = you’re doing it right
