It’s ’all about the bass,’ so they say. This week on the Corner of Oak and Walnut Streets, the assembly room is filling with some significant wooden bass pipes from the ongoing project for Chicago Temple/FUMC.

Included in the photos are pipes from the newly-built 32’ Violone (Haskell wood construction), the 16’ Diapason, 16’ Ophicleide, 16’ Bourdon, and 32’ Bombarde.

The view from the corner of Oak and Walnut Streets offers a unique perspective this week. Work continues on the large project for First United Methodist Church/Chicago Temple, as we rebuild and re-imagine Skinner Organ Co., Opus 414 (1924). One of the unique features of this organ is this Harp/Celesta unit (61 notes) located in the Choir Organ. Staff members Jack Eggeman and Jessica Ruffner have been restoring this unit with the helpful assistance of summer intern, Brenna. Earlier in the process, our long-time employee, Robert Gregory (who has restored a number of these unique instruments) provided 'emeritus faculty' oversight. We're looking forward to testing and regulation in the coming days. (Thanks to Victor Schantz for taking these images earlier today)

This past week, Luke Tegtmeier and Robert Gregory paid a visit to Cleo Redd Fisher Museum in nearby Loudonville, Ohio to provide service for the 1927 Reproducto player piano/organ. Something certainly out of the ordinary, but not outside the expertise of this dynamic duo!

Last week we welcomed Luke and Rob from Schantz Organ Company to explore our 1927 Reproduco combination player-piano-organ. The duo worked their magic and gave the old girl a tune-up and fixed some other issues, so now she sounds just as good as she did when she debuted at the The Ohio Theatre - Loudonville nearly 100 years ago!

While we do ask guests not to touch the Reproduco, anyone is welcome to visit and ask staff to play it. We’re always happy to bring it to life.
