I'm so sorry I've been MIA. I have gotten a new full-time job, school started, and everything else. I've been turned into a zombie for a while but I think everything is about as normal as it's going to get!

We raised $838! I am so thankful to everyone who donated and will start getting your things shipped out in the next couple of weeks! If you are local and prefer to pick your items up locally, I will reimburse your shipping fee. Just let me know!

I think as long as everyone is still earning entries, I plan on still doing the giveaway because a few people purchased entries, and I don't want them to go to waste.

With that, keep sharing, liking, inviting people to follow, etc. I will keep track of entries until about Christmas time.

Today is a busy busy day but I'm lovin' it!

Got a kids' book donation (a lot of new books) from a Americas school library and it's about 24 boxes of books! I am still trying to organize my other HUGE adult book donation and only have 1 larger box actually added into inventory (1/19 boxes) 😅

With all of these donations I will also be able to make some blind dates with a book for kids as well!

📚✨ Horn & Ivory Books is almost here… but I need your help to cross the finish line. ✨📚

I’ve poured everything into building this bookstore—from branding and book curation to inventory and community programs—but unexpected expenses have come up that have prevented me from making some major last purchases.

This fundraiser is my last big push to get the store open. The funds will go directly toward:
✔️ Buying the last round of new children’s books
✔️ Filling in the gaps in new adult fiction & nonfiction
✔️ Covering operational costs and signage so I can open with a full experience

I’m aiming to open the doors in December or January, but I can’t do it without you.

Happy 4th of July! I have a lot of updates and decisions to make, I’d love everyone’s input but I’ll save that for tomorrow 😉

Due to another bookstore in Kansas having the same name, The Book Barn, I have to change the name :( It's putting me back a lot in getting everything moving forward because now I have additional fees to change the name.

Every name that I have brainstormed and liked has been taken or a very similar version of it is taken. SO, I was thinking of renaming it to "Horn & Ivory Books: The Gateway Bookstore". It's a Greek mythology story from the Odyssey known as Penelope's Gates. Penelope dreamed of two gates: one of horn, symbolizing truth and fulfillment (nonfiction), and one of ivory, symbolizing deceit and fantasy (fiction). I found it fitting for a bookstore and Greek mythology made me fall in love with reading more than once.

I've attached a possible logo for this name. I just made one on Canva this time so I don't have to put more money towards the same thing, a logo. This will have to be something that gets updated later on down the road.
