I collect a many things. Russian nesting dolls (Matryoshka doll). I visited a beautiful family owned shop (that's been open for 56 yrs!) in downtown Gettysburg a week ago and the store owner told me the history of these dolls and importance of them in the Russian culture.

The dolls symbolize family, motherhood, and the continuous bond of generations.

Motherhood and Family: The largest outer doll traditionally represents a mother (the word matryoshka comes from a root meaning "little mother")

Generations: The inner dolls represent her children and descendants, showing that a family carries the lineage and love of those who came before them.

Inner Core: The innermost, smallest solid piece often symbolizes a tiny baby or the true soul at the center of a family.
