Croton native N. West Moss comes home to celebrate her acclaimed new middle-grade novel Birdy — a main character was inspired by Teatown's very first naturalist.

This is so much more than a signing: a reading from Birdy, a reading from Zin! Zin! Zin! A Violin! (the Caldecott Honor picture book by West's father, Lloyd Moss), a book discussion, a short journaling activity, Q&A, signing, and homemade zucchini & banana muffins

Not sure what to read next? Here’s a staff pick!⁣

This week from Janet: London Falling: A Mysterious Death in a Gilded City and a Family’s Search for Truth by Patrick Radden Keefe⁣

“a riveting true story about the mysterious death of a young man in London, and his family’s search for the truth. The author’s masterful storytelling and reportage exposes the corruption beneath the city’s glamour and wealth, the secret life of the young man, and the heartbreaking journey of a family trying to figure out not just how their son died, but who he truly was at the end of his life.  Highly recommend!”⁣

Not sure what to read next? Here’s a staff pick from us!⁣

This week from Betsy: Contrapposto by Dave Eggers⁣

“This book by one of my favorite authors pulled me in immediately because… I’m an artist. It’s about authentic art, really learning, as a young person, about how to draw and how to see. One of the most basic and difficult parts of being an artist and Eggars captures it beautifully, the early mystery and craft of putting on paper what you see in front of you. It was captivating to me! I also am blown away by Eggars’ ability to write in so many different genres. Not to mention, the man can draw!”

Not sure what to read next? Here’s a staff pick!

This week from Leana: The Overstory by Richard Powers

“Every time I reread The Overstory by Richard Powers, I am challenged, moved, held, and transformed. Like its protagonists—the trees—this book, just by existing, breathes the wisdom of nature into its readers. The Overstory, while not the most recently published book we have in the store, might be the most timeless one.”

We have a special event coming up next Saturday!

Experience the powerful voice and storytelling of Kenyatta Emmanuel—artist, activist, and performer whose journey has taken him from Sing Sing to Carnegie Hall. He’ll be joined by The Cambia Collective, Musicambia’s band of Teaching Artists and Alumni.

Musicambia (“music” + “change”) helps people in prison write, play, and perform music, building collaborative communities that support the health and well-being of everyone involved.

After the performance, author Colin Asher will read from his new book, The Midnight Special: The Secret Prison History of American Music (W.W. Norton and Company, 2026). Copies will be available for purchase and signing.

Free to attend, rsvp encouraged.. Donations will be collected to support Musicambia’s extraordinary work changing lives through music.
