Making art helps me to see that beauty and magic is everywhere, despite the chaos and loss that seems inherent to 21st-century life. It’s a way of coping with the fact that multiple truths exist at once. -

Have you ever felt like you were tip-toeing around someone but no matter what you did, it was wrong? Sometimes you just can't win and you need to cut the cord. This is a painful life lesson I've had to learn a few times as a recovering people-pleaser, but it's helped me to remember that standing up for myself is more important than being liked.

Happy April! I love this month - not just because some of my favorite people were born in it - but because it has all of the energy of transformation and renewal. One of the reasons that I love making art depicting plants is that, for me, it's a mediation on growth. And ultimately, everything I have ever painted or drawn is or will be gone from the natural world. But the memory lives on in my art.
