I painted a sign and putting the window about a week ago, store for sale empty or full, and to please message me through I am on this page.
Would love to sell this lovely building to a younger entrepreneur before winter
We’ll see if I can post that picture, a lot has changed on my ability to easily create posts on this page recently. Not sure if it’s updates from Meta or something to do with AI, but I’m having more difficulty posting in the right place and using photos, etc.
Back to selling the building, inspector for the city has been through the whole thing including the basement and almost 7500 ft.² on the main floor, insured me that if a new person came in with a business similar to this could be different merchandise but same business plan, not adding new bathrooms, not adding a kitchen or anything like that, they would be grandfathered in and be able to come in the day after they own it and open the doors.
Have talked to several people lately that love this building, would love to come in and run a business from it, but don’t have the ability to get the funds at this time. I agree there’s a lot of uncertainty right now in our country. I’m thinking if some of those people could get together or if anyone reading this has Two or three friends or relatives that they feel would be good business partners, would be great to see a co-op developed that could come in and purchase the building. Talk to your friends, think about it always keep your mind open to possibilities in whatever you’re doing through life. 🥰

Also, would love to sell this building with or without merchandise and fixtures, before winter. If any of you have ideas or know people who would be in a situation to want to turn this back into a mall with lots of dealers, and young enough to keep it open on a regular basis, please call the store number 269-694-6440, or better yet, instant message me on this page.
Perhaps you’ve always wanted to do something like this and have two or three close friends or relatives that you think would be good partners and several of you could form a co-op and do it together.
Even if you kept most of my merchandise and fixtures, it would be very easy to condense all of that and open up space for at least 10 to 15 booths right away.
It’s such a perfect location for this kind of a business! I think my father and mother-in-law, Howard and Hazel Newman for changing the storefront from three separate buildings with doors, two one big entrance area with all those wonderful windows across the front. Those windows are the best advertisement with so much traffic on 89. When we were a department store we also use the Community Shoppers Guide Almost every week and that was great for us as well.
Anyway I think it over I’ve had this city building inspector through the building who said if somebody came in and did Direct selling like I’m doing wouldn’t have to be antiques and collectibles, but they would be grandfathered in as long as they didn’t feel they had to add new bathrooms or a kitchen or other big changes like that.
I just painted a for sale sign and put on one of the windows a week ago. I’ll see if I can add it here. Again I’m getting a @ sign on the lower right part of the screen . But don’t see any opportunity to put a color in or change the text style, so something has changed that I am not knowledgeable enough to remedy. 🤔

Well, will be lucky to get to the store by 11 because I have misplaced my keys. Stay tuned……..😳

A longshot, but does anybody out there happen to have a cash register that I could buy or borrow for tomorrow? Cash drawer on mine locked up without a key, just jammed perhaps but I cannot open it. Had this problem before once and former student Jena happened to be in the store & between her and her husband, got it open by a little (like a toggle) switch on the bottom of the register that will open the drawer. That didn’t work this time. I think I may have pushed the drawer in a little quickly and maybe not straightforward, maybe from an angle. It’s very angry with me and NOT going to open. Unless maybe some highly skilled tech person comes in and is able to figure it out.
Somewhere I have one of the old hand-crank cash registers from Skogmo‘s/Newman‘s Department Store. I think I sold the other two but kept one. I think I can find it? You already know the answer.
I’ve looked at YouTube videos, called the company that makes these machines, nice young man from the hardware store across the street came over and couldn’t get it open either although he certainly knew a lot more about the functions of all the buttons on the machine that I have ever known. So I may be counting change back tomorrow from my apron pockets. 😁  grateful that my mother taught my siblings and me how to count change when we were children. Hope customers are in a patient mood. And we also have to multiply the amount of merchandise times .06 for the sales tax. (more patience please)
Finding the key for that register would be a huge challenge, neither Roger or I ever locked that register. Roger would take the cash out at night for deposit and leave the drawer open, a lesson taught by his father.
But the guy that I talked in the tech department from sharp the company who makes the machine, said there’s no way it would have locked that way if I didn’t use the key to lock it.
I doubt if I’ll get there before noon tomorrow and it might be just a little later. Thinking of one more place at the store I’ll look but I felt that way all afternoon looking ‘here and there’ both at the store and at home. It’s hiding somewhere.
But if you know someone who has an extra cash register sitting and gathering dust, that they’d either like to lend or sell, call me at the store number 269-694-6440. Going to be fun tomorrow, I think of it as a challenge!

I’ve tried to change the ‘SUMMARY’ info on Otsego Antiques small page but can’t seem to do it. Not sure who wrote the summary but it wasn’t me. I have to tell you we no longer have dealers the only dealer in the store other than myself is one friend who helps me often who has items in a booth now. She focuses on mid-century items and has a lot of fun items for you to see.
But otherwise have not had dealers for many years. The phone number for the store is 269-694-6440 and I carry the phone back-and-forth to the house and when I’m traveling. So you can almost always leave a message on that phone and I will get back to you. Just be sure to leave your phone number two times slowly if you leave a message.
Forgive errors above, I use the mic and probably speak a little too fast …..😎
And I’ll admit if I say antiques mall without a pause between the two words it does come out as antique small 🫣

Some delightful jewelry coming into the store for Sunday and possibly a couple hours on Saturday, June 27 and 28.
Exceptionally large rhinestone brooch, large stones possibly crystal, unmarked, 4” x 3”!!
Large stones, all pronged. Truly a STATEMENT piece.
Beautiful Napier cut steel bracelet with very clear (perfect shape) topaz rhinestones.A pair of clip earrings which could work with the bracelet by Holly Craft. Unmarked hinged metal gold tone SNAKE bracelet and finally a very ART DECO Bakelite brooch. 
I THINK ALL OF THESE PIECES ARE FROM THE 1940S AND 50S POSSIBLY 60S.
