Just because someone sends an offer doesnā€™t mean you have to take it!

I paid $2 for this discontinued Got2b Glossy Shine Serum and listed it on eBay for $36.99 with free shipping.

This morning, I received an offer for $24.

Could I have accepted it and still made money? Absolutely.

But it had only been listed since August 1, it had watchers, and the sold comps supported a higher price. Plus, Iā€™m paying for the shipping.

If this had been sitting in my inventory forever and I was ready to see it go, I might have taken the $24.

But this time, I decided to counter at $30.

They bought it immediately! šŸ™Œ

Sometimes taking the offer makes sense. Sometimes it makes sense to counter. And sometimes it makes sense to wait for the right buyer.

For me, itā€™s not about squeezing every possible dollar out of every sale. Itā€™s about looking at the item, the comps, how long Iā€™ve had it, and what Iā€™ll actually make after expenses.

Sometimes sourcing is just one big experiment. šŸ˜‚

Todayā€™s estate sale was a little bit of everything.

Christmas. Clothing. Perfume. Ornaments. Vintage. And a few things I normally wouldnā€™t even look twice at.

Iā€™ve been trying to branch out more when I source instead of automatically walking past something just because it isnā€™t what I usually sell.

Will every one of these be a winner? Probably not.

But thatā€™s part of reselling.

You research. You take some calculated chances. You learn what sells ā€” and sometimes the weird thing you almost left behind ends up being the best thing you bought.

Today I took a few chances.

Now we wait and see. šŸ‘€

Reseller rule: Never assume thereā€™s nothing to find. šŸ‘€

Some people see an old hardware store.

I see discontinued products, old packaging, forgotten inventory and shelves that might not have been picked through by 500 other resellers. šŸ˜‚

One thing reselling has taught me is to look EVERYWHERE.

Thrift stores and estate sales are greatā€”but sometimes the most interesting finds are sitting on the shelf of a small-town hardware store where theyā€™ve been minding their own business for who knows how long.

Did I need to take pictures of old paint, wood stain and cleaning products?

Apparently I did. šŸ˜‚

Because you just never know where the next Jamazing Find might be.

I learned something about reselling this week that I think is worth talking about. šŸ¤”

I had an authentic Lā€™ANGE Grand DĆ©but Root Booster listed on Poshmark. It was legally purchased, I own it, and I listed it for resale.

Then the listing was removed after Lā€™ANGE submitted an intellectual property complaint.

Naturally, I wanted to know why.

What specifically about my authentic product or my listing was considered an intellectual property violation?

So I contacted Poshmark and asked.

Their response explained that Lā€™ANGE had contacted them directly and cited my listing for trademark infringement. Poshmark also explained that I have the option of filing a formal counter-notification to challenge the removal.

What they didnā€™t explain was the one thing I actually wanted to know:

What specifically did I do wrong?

I still donā€™t know what part of my product or listing allegedly infringed Lā€™ANGEā€™s trademark.

Iā€™ve decided not to file a formal counter-notification. Iā€™m not interested in escalating one resale item into a legal process that involves providing personal information and making formal legal declarations.

But I do think the experience is worth sharing.

Companies absolutely have the right to protect their brands against counterfeit products and legitimate intellectual property violations. I support that.

At the same time, legitimate resellers have rights too. If a brand asks a resale marketplace to remove an authentic product that someone legally owns, I think itā€™s reasonable for the seller to ask exactly what the alleged violation wasā€”and receive an actual answer.

Iā€™m not here to tell anyone what they should think about Lā€™ANGE or Poshmark. Iā€™m sharing what happened to me and letting you form your own opinion.

šŸ“¦ Iā€™m Trying Something New With Shippingā€¦

Iā€™ve always used calculated shipping on eBay. Enter the weight, enter the package dimensions, and let eBay calculate what the buyer pays.

But Iā€™m trying something different.

Iā€™m starting to move some of my clothing and shoes to flat-rate shipping.

Why?

Mostly because Iā€™m always looking for ways to make my reselling business a little more efficient. If I already know that a lightweight shirt will ship for one rate, jeans for another, and heavier shoes for another, I can create shipping policies and simply choose the right one when I list.

Less measuring. Less entering information. Less thinking about shipping on every single listing.

Will I love it? šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø
Will I eventually switch everything? Who knows!

Iā€™m testing it first.

Because one thing Iā€™m learning over and over in reselling is that you donā€™t have to keep doing something a certain way just because thatā€™s how youā€™ve always done it.

šŸ‡¬šŸ‡§ **WHAT SOLD WEDNESDAY ā€” LONDON UPDATE!** šŸ‡¬šŸ‡§

Remember the goodies that came home from London? Wellā€¦ we are officially down to **ONE ITEM LEFT!** šŸŽ‰

Hereā€™s what has sold:

āœØ **Harry Styles shirt ā€” $225**
šŸ§ø **Jellycat Bartholomew Bear Jr. Pilot**
šŸ„¤ **Amuseables Jellycat Jess Can of Pop ā€” $80**
šŸ° **Harrods Exclusive GlacĆ© Chocolate Cake Jellycat ā€” $143**

And now there is just **ONE lonely London Jellycat left**, currently listed for $70. šŸ˜‚

When these items were picked up, I really didnā€™t know how the London experiment was going to turn out. Some were definitely a gamble ā€” but THAT is part of reselling. Research, try things, learn what worksā€¦and occasionally bring home something you can't easily find here.

I'd say London did pretty darn well for Jamazing Finds. šŸ‡¬šŸ‡§āœˆļøšŸ’°

Now we just need that LAST Jellycat to find its new home!

šŸ”Ž SEO isnā€™t the only way buyers are finding our listings anymore!

Weā€™ve all heard about SEO (Search Engine Optimization) ā€” using good keywords to help buyers find our items.

But now weā€™re hearing more about:

šŸ¤– AEO ā€” Answer Engine Optimization
šŸ¤– GEO ā€” Generative Engine Optimization

Basically, AI is becoming part of how people search and shop online.

So what does that mean for resellers?

It means the details in our listings matter. Clear titles, brand names, model numbers, colors, sizes, materials, condition and useful descriptions all help search engines AND AI understand exactly what weā€™re selling.

The goal isnā€™t to stuff listings with keywords.

šŸ‘‰ Itā€™s to clearly describe the item so both buyers and technology can understand it.

AI shopping is still evolving, but if spending another minute creating a solid listing gives my item another way to be found, Iā€™m doing it! ā­ļø

Iā€™m learning that building a business doesnā€™t mean I have to do ALL the things ALL the time.

There will always be more.

More to list.
More to photograph.
More to source.
More to organize.
More to learn.

And somewhere in there is a full-time job, a house, a family, my healthā€¦and an actual life.

Iā€™m trying to get better at asking myself:

What can I realistically do TODAY?

Some days thatā€™s knocking out a huge to-do list.

Other days itā€™s sitting on the couch working on shipping policies and planning my next sourcing trip.

And sometimes? Itā€™s doing absolutely nothing business related.

Iā€™m learning that all three are okay.

You donā€™t have to do everything to still be making progress. ā¤ļø
