We had the pleasure of bringing Cain Butcher, one of our young emerging artists from the Eva Reynolds Fine Arts Gallery, to Santa Marta Senior Living. This was hosted by our group of residents – Team Michelangelo and part of our Age of Art Program. In addition to being a gifted artist, he is the grandson of Sam Butcher, the renowned artist and creator of Precious Moments and founder of the Precious Moments Chapel. We were also thrilled his mother Melinda could join us and share her thoughts in such an inspiring way. It was truly a family affair!

In Cain’s own words:

“Thank you Eva Reynolds Fine Art Gallery for inviting me to be the first presenter in the ‘Art Talk’ series at the Santa Marta Retirement Community. It was an honor to share my story of becoming an artist with a wonderful group of individuals who have a passion for the arts too. From restoring damaged art, to becoming my grandfather’s understudy, to creating my own art and style, it has been a great journey for me.”

A highlight of the event for him was getting to know everyone and hearing their stories as they shared their different personal experiences with art. Cain describes his artistic style as flexible depending on the piece, driven by a love for experimenting with various techniques, though it generally leans toward expressionism and cubism. His biggest artistic influences include Modigliani, Sunol Alvar, and Picasso, particularly from his blue and rose periods.

The Gallery is proud to have partnered with the O'Connell Children's Shelter in Lawrence and its foster youth and staff since 2019. From art classes to special events like this one, we're continually inspired by groups like the Loch Lloyd Bible Study, whose annual event helps kick off the summer with an unforgettable day for the youth and staff.

This year was another great success—and they caught a ton of fish!

We were excited to attend the 6th Annual Food, Fishing & Fun a few weeks ago hosted by the Loch Lloyd Bible Study. This event has become a cherished tradition and our favorite way to kick off the summer for our youth and staff!

We are deeply grateful to Tom Buis and Brian Beach for their generosity in funding the program and fun this year. From its beginning and continuing this year, the event has been supported by the Eva Reynolds Fine Art Gallery and Stephanie Reynolds (who has faithfully served as our lifeguard for the past six years).

The day was filled with great food, fishing, fun, and fellowship. Several youth caught their very first fish ever! The day was capped off with bottomless banana splits--the perfect finishing touch!

Thank you again to everyone who helped make this special day possible. We appreciate all that you do to help us kick off summer for our young people.

There is so much quiet emotion captured in the fluid, bronze lines of Carol Gold’s “Outstretched Hand”. It’s a beautiful reminder of the power of empathy, connection, and the grace of reaching out to one another.

⚽ As the world turns its attention to the FIFA World Cup, we’re excited to introduce Color in Motion, a new series by Dan Vanderhoof!

These vibrant paintings capture the energy, athleticism, and emotion that make soccer the world’s game. Through bold color and dynamic movement, Vanderhoof transforms familiar moments on the pitch into contemporary works that celebrate both sport and art.
