Olive Tree Olive Tree is your go-to shop in KC for gourmet olive oils, vinegars, & mahjong! Hi! My name is Mindy Riley, and I'm the owner and founder of Olive Tree KC.

Over a decade ago, my husband David and I walked into a shop not too different from Olive Tree in a city we were visiting. Immediately, after spending just a few moments in the store, I was inspired. I looked at David and told him that THIS is what I wanted to do. Of course he thought I was a little crazy at first, but that night we started researching and he ended up writing an incredible busines

s plan. With help from our families and David's endless support of my dreams, I created Olive Tree. Growing up, I was always a foodie, and ALWAYS wanted to be cooking or baking in the kitchen. On Saturday mornings, I would watch Julia Child and other cooking shows instead of cartoons. The timing was never right for me to break into the food industry, so I spent a good portion of my adult life in Real Estate. I feel incredibly blessed to have made it through several rough patches over the years, especially (most recently) the seemingly never-ending pandemic that shut down the world. We truly have the greatest customers who show us unwavering loyalty – and for each and every one of you, I am grateful beyond words. While our business has evolved time and time again over the years, you have stuck with us. And to that, all I can say is thank you. And of course, I would be remiss to leave out all that David has done for me and for our business. Having a store like Olive Tree allows me to meet so many peoples' needs, especially now that more and more people are cooking and eating at home regularly. Olive Tree is my love letter to Kansas City, from a girl who was born and raised here. I hope you enjoy everything we have to offer, and I thank you again for supporting our small, local business. And this time, that includes all of our olive oils and balsamic vinegars.

I know many of you have been waiting for this part. 😊

If you have a favorite oil or vinegar, this would be a really good time to come in and stock up. We aren't ordering anything else, so as things sell out, they really are gone.

Everything else in the shop is 50% off too — food, gifts, accessories and all of the other things we've collected along the way.

Our clearance merchandise is now 75% off.

We're also continuing to sell fixtures and displays from around the store. It's a little strange to see pieces of Olive Tree walking out the door after all these years, but I'm very happy knowing that so many of them are finding new homes.

I have to admit, closing a store after 15 years is a very odd experience. One minute I'm being sentimental about something that's been here forever, and the next minute I'm thinking, Okay, somebody please buy this! 😂

We still have some really great things left, but the store is changing every day. If there's something you love — especially a particular oil or vinegar — I wouldn't wait too long.

Come in, wander around, stock up and say hello.

And please don't feel bad about getting a great deal. At this point, I really do want you to buy it.

Thank you again for all of the kindness you've shown us these past few weeks. It has made this whole process a lot easier and has reminded me just how special the Olive Tree community has been.

Join us for another Saturday night of mahjong at Olive Tree. Emily (KC Mahjong Mama) and Susie (Mix it Up Mahjong) will be on hand to assist. Enjoy margaritas, chips and salsa, queso, and guacamole while you play.

We will also be watching “All's Fair in Love and Mahjong” on the Hallmark Channel. 💕
