Talking to a pet after they’ve died is something many grieving people do.
You might still say good morning to them. Talk to them in the car. Tell them you miss them. Say their name when you walk past their favourite spot. Or tell them about everything that’s happened since they’ve been gone.
And you don’t have to stop.
In grief, maintaining a connection with someone who has died is sometimes referred to as continuing bonds.
Rather than needing to “let go” of the relationship, we can find new ways to carry that relationship with us as we move through life.
Talking to them can be one of those ways.
Whether you believe they can hear you, hope they can, or simply find comfort in speaking to them, you’re allowed to keep talking.
I know I’m curious…
Do you think they can hear us? 🤍
