“What began in college as a means to make my mom Christmas gifts, turned into the thread that would connect four years spent living in six states and through every move I managed to find a pottery studio to keep learning.
In 2018 a three month internship in Moab, UT, turned into four years spent exploring the desert, where my family grew (I married my husband, Nate and adopted a rescue pup, we named Frankie), where I developed my style as an artist, creating art that reflected the natural world, and where I turned my hobby into a career.
From Utah to Maine in 2023, we settled in Bridgton, Maine, swapping desert sandstone for Maine granite, woodsy neutrals and coastal blues and I am learning to fall in love with Maine through the art I get to create every day.”

We do have set time frames for applications to open for each market, meaning events do fill up quickly, however we do have waitlist established for any openings that occur after the applications close. ellie begin design //

“I’m Ellie, the artist behind Ellie Begin Design. My work is rooted in self-love, creativity, and finding beauty in the small moments. I came to making during some very challenging times in my life, and creativity became a way to care for myself, calm my nervous system, and come back to the present moment. That intention is still at the heart of everything I make today.

I started my jewelry journey after a trip to Peru when I was 19, where I spent time with local jewelry artisans and was inspired by their process and designs. When I returned home in 2010, I began my own business selling whimsical wirework jewelry. After 11 years of wholesaling, I felt called to deepen my craft and I began studying lost wax casting with the incredible educator and master model maker Kate Wolf, learning the ancient art of lost wax which transformed my designs.

I started creating my dream work: realistic botanical jewelry made from recycled sterling silver and brass. Many pieces feature ferns, peapods, ginkgo leaves, and natural textures using real plants from Maine. Making this work filled my heart with joy and inspiration.

In 2025, I took my first ceramics class and it changed my life. I knew immediately that clay was a medium that would bring even more joy into my world. I started making travel tumblers because I’ve always been the person who carries a ceramic “emotional support mug” everywhere. I loved drinking from something handmade, even if it didn’t fit in a cup holder or spilled once in a while. It made me feel a little more like myself. Eventually, I decided to make versions that did fit in the car... and they were an instant hit!

Today, I work out of two small studios — one for jewelry and one for pottery — in Gorham, Maine. Everything I make is designed to be lived with and enjoyed: reminders to slow down, notice beauty, and come back to yourself.”
