Direct Answer: Semi-custom means an existing fixture line built to order with changes to finish, glass, size, or stem length. Full custom means a fixture sketched and handcrafted from scratch. You have been searching for three weeks. You know the diameter you need, the finish you want, and roughly what the fixture should look like. […]

Direct Answer: Most islands take two or three pendants, spaced 24 to 30 inches apart center to center, hung 30 to 36 inches above the countertop measured to the bottom of the fixture. You are standing at the island with a tape measure in one hand and your phone in the other, looking at a […]

If your room never looks quite right this is probably why. 👇

Most homes only have ONE layer of lighting. Well-designed homes have THREE:

💡 Ambient — fills the room with a base level of brightness
🔦 Task — focused light for what you actually do in the space
🕯️ Accent — creates mood and highlights what you love

All three working together = a room that feels as good as it looks.
Greg and Tammy can help you get there. Walk-ins welcome! 🙌

Direct Answer: On August 13, 2026, the CPSC recalled about 9,460 Hampton Bay Halwin 52-inch ceiling fans, models AK396H-MBK and AK396H-BN. The blades can separate from the motor. Stop using them and request a refund. A ceiling fan spinning over a bed or a patio table is easy to forget about. That is exactly what […]

Not all lighting showrooms are created equal. 👀

At The Home Lighter, we don't just point you toward the prettiest fixture and send you on your way. We listen. We ask questions. We think about your whole space aesthetics AND function before we ever talk product.

That's been our approach since 1969. And it shows. 💛

Walk-ins welcome. Appointments available for bigger projects.

𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗙𝗶𝘅𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗕𝗲 𝗙𝗶𝘅𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗧𝗲𝗻 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀? 𝗔𝘀𝗸 𝗕𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗕𝘂𝘆
Direct Answer: A replaceable bulb fixture takes a new lamp from any hardware store. An integrated LED fixture only lasts as long as its driver and board, unless the maker sells those parts. A homeowner picks a slim LED fixture for the hallway. It looks great, it dims smoothly, and nobody thinks about it again […]
