We have made the difficult decision to close our downtown storefront.
We moved the shop from Downtown Murray to Downtown Paducah last year when health issues sidelined Sara from regularly attending Comic Cons. Two back surgeries, one ADHD diagnosis, and three long-term prescriptions later, she's ready to get back on the con circuit.
Unfortunately, the increased cost of gas forced a decision - the two hour daily commute 5-6 times a week from Murray, where we live, to Paducah OR a really long drive once a month to a con. When we moved to Paducah, it cost $25 to fill the tank of my Ford Focus. Now, it's over $40 and that's with Kentucky's relatively "cheap" gas prices. It costs even more in other states to fill up the SUV we drive to cons. Ideally, we'd get back to our 2024 status with a storefront and convention attendance, but the cost of both is just too much right now.
We loved being a member of the Downtown Paducah community. We were welcomed with open arms and the support, encouragement, and enthusiasm of everyone we met was appreciated so much.
We did not do a "store closing" sale since we are still in business. You can always shop our website or, if you're in the neighborhood of any of the cons we're doing, come see us and do Con things! There's a calendar on the website we will continue to update as we add Cons to our schedule.
While we are sad at the closing of our shop door, we are hopeful for the path ahead. Thank you, Paducah!
