My grandfather, we called him Grampy, passed away Wednesday morning. He was 95 and my last grandfather. The kids and I saw him on Monday, Veterans day. He was in the Air Force and love airplanes. I showed him videos of the Cleveland Air Show and he loved watching the Blue Angels. We talked about the Gardians. Made plans to go fishing. All the thing we missed when he lived in Texas all those years. I have very fond memories of him and my Grammy when I was little.
One time when stamps were lick and stick I used a whole roll of his stamps as stickers when my dad took me to visit them in Texas. I used to eat chives right out of their back yard on Primrose and went fishing more times than I can count. He taught me about airplanes and tools. I was bless to be his girl for 45+ years. Grandpas are special, sweet, and have the rough edges rounded. He loved my Grammy fiercely and spoke fondly of her. He said he loved her the first time he saw her in New Foundland on his was to Greenland and had to know more about her. They were always together after that. She left us in 1989 and he never stopped loving her and kept her memory alive.
I'm thankful I got to reconnect with him when he moved back to Ohio in May and that he knew I was good despite others opinions.
I had plans to make his favorite beans but now I think my Grammy had some waiting for him in heaven. He was also reunited with my uncle Chris who passed away last year. I hope they all had an amazing day fishing out on a lake in heaven.
