ASSOULINE Founded in Paris in 1994 by Prosper and Martine Assouline, Assouline is the first luxury brand on culture.

It began with the desire to create a new, contemporary style of book, using the couple’s experienced eye for visually rich stories and compelling narratives. Guided ny their passion for knowledge, culture and travel, the Assoulines have since expanded their vision to 1,700 titles in three main collections, along with special editions and unique library accessories—a grand oeuvre of inspiring creations. Throughout the last quarter of a century, the brand has established a network of international boutiques in prominent locations across the globe.

When a path ignites in the minds and souls of creatives, that is their Decisive Moment. As we step into 2026, we revisit the spark that inspired Culture Lounge. For Assouline’s Editor-in-Chief Martine Assouline, it came while discovering Henri Cartier-Bresson’s legendary tome, titled, ironically, The Decisive Moment.

Upon the first page turn, she understood how art transcends time and space into a realm of transformation. “I wasn’t thinking anything about publishing, but that day, I understood what makes a good book. It was one of the first books I discovered where the choices this man made, the photos, everything was extraordinary,” she shares. Discover her story on Culture Lounge, link in bio.

Brigitte Bardot was more than a beauty; she was a revolution. With an effortless sensuality and an unshakable love for truth, she embodied a new freedom, one that redefined femininity for her generation and beyond. Rare, fearless, and forever singular, Brigitte was, and will remain, unique.

“Brigitte Bardot: Intimate” presents a rare, unfiltered portrait, released earlier this year. With unseen photographs by Jicky Dussart and text by Fabrice Gaignault, shaped in collaboration with Bardot herself, it captures her life with tenderness and truth.
