If you've been quietly wondering whether you've lost distance off the tee — here are the real numbers, from real rounds.

Arccos just published its 2026 driving distance report: 37,000+ golfers, around 10 million driver tee shots, all logged on par 4s and par 5s during the 2025 season. Total distance, carry plus rollout. No range balls, no marketing math.

Among men at a 0.0–4.9 handicap, the average is 263 yards in their 20s, 253 in their 40s, 227 in their 60s and 209 in their 70s. Among women at the same handicap: 244 in their 20s, 232 in their 40s, 184 in their 60s.

That's a 54-yard drop for the men across those decades — and every one of those golfers is still playing to scratch. Their fairways-hit percentage actually climbed from 42% to 60% over the same span. They didn't get worse. They got straighter.

Here's the number that should change how you shop, though: the men's average driver distance has moved less than one yard since 2018. Eight model years of "longest driver ever," and the needle sat still.

There’s no such thing as a gimme. 😅
