Annual Palm Tree Maintenance – Downtown & Uptown Palm Springs
The City of Palm Springs will begin its annual palm tree maintenance along the Downtown and Uptown corridors beginning Monday, August 24. We are providing advance notice to businesses so you are aware of the upcoming work and temporary parking restrictions.
The work will be performed by the City’s arborist, WCA, and will include Palm Canyon Drive from Tachevah Drive to Ramon Road, as well as Indian Canyon Drive, surrounding side streets, and the Arenas District.
Work Schedule
Monday through Friday
Traffic control setup will begin at approximately 6:00 a.m.
Palm tree maintenance will begin at 7:00 a.m.
Work will conclude at approximately 2:30 p.m.
The entire Downtown and Uptown maintenance project is expected to take approximately one month to complete.
Palm Tree Maintenance
California fan palms: Fruit and seed pods will be removed. The palm skirts will not be removed.
Mexican fan palms: Fruit and seed pods, as well as palm skirts, will be removed, consistent with maintenance performed in previous years.
Temporary Parking Restrictions
WCA will post “No Parking” signs one day in advance of scheduled work. Parking restrictions will only be posted in the specific areas where crews will be working the following day — not along the entire Downtown/Uptown corridor at once.
Businesses will remain accessible during the work. Please be mindful of posted parking restrictions and temporary traffic control measures while crews are working.
