Starbase 505

Starbase 505 Starbase 505 is a nerdy destination in Palm Springs, California, filled with board games, comics, collectibles, puzzles, events, and more.

FYI: Starbase 505 will be CLOSED next week on Tuesday, October 6th. The power will be off because we will be doing some electrical repairs, so we can’t operate on that day. We’ll still be open the Monday before and Wednesday after.

Visit us in person (when the lights are on) in Palm Springs.

After two months of waiting, the concrete is repaired, the handymen are knocking projects off our list, and visible changes are finally happening. Naturally, giving a tour of everything we fixed helped us discover a few more things that need fixing. I’m still calling it progress.

I mean I KNOW why, but also I didn’t HAVE to spend hours and hours and hours on it. Sometimes I think “oh I’ll just add a few more songs…” and then suddenly it’s dark outside and how the heck did that happen when it was midafternoon five minutes ago. 😂

The floor work has finally started, which means I can briefly stop saying “we’re waiting on the floors” and talk about what I want to do with the space: more gaming, new comics, a possible nerd market, and a bigger place for people to hang out.

When will the expanded shop be open? I wish I knew.

Our fingers are crossed for a soft opening in November. We will keep you posted if anything changes.

Yay! We got approved! 🥳 Now we need to get the painters over here and start painting. That still might take a little time, but I’ll keep you all posted as per usual.

We finally received approval for our new exterior paint colors and tried to turn that small victory into actual progress. Between a plumbing repair that wasn’t quite repaired, unanswered phone calls, and a desk still glaring at me from upstairs, it was another perfectly normal week at Starbase 505.

A few musings from my latest editing session about all the little things I notice while editing myself in videos. 😂

As nice as the city reps have been, it’s still disappointing to have them say no to my paint proposal. So we resubmitted, and now we wait.

What was supposed to be a quick visit to replace two doors became an all-day ordeal involving late installers, unexpected problems, and the city rejecting our paint colors. So much for taking the day off.
