Same salary, two countries, wildly different lives.

A $150K New York salary nets a single filer roughly $99,650 after tax, around $8,300 a month, with about 34% going to taxes. Cost-of-living indices put Delhi somewhere between a fifth and a sixth of New York for a comparable lifestyle. But the spreadsheet leaves out currency risk, healthcare, schooling, and the cost of distance from family. Save this and send it to whoever keeps running this math at 1am.

Ganesh Chaturthi runs September 14 to 23 this year, and the diaspora has built a genuine festival circuit around it, from a 10-day utsav at the Fremont Hindu Temple to processions in New York. One thing worth knowing before the last day: immersing an idol in American public water without a permit is illegal and fines
have reached five figures. Join a permitted community visarjan, use a home tub with a clay idol, or use your temple's immersion tank. Save this before the 14th. All images belong to their respective owners.

Ganpati Bappa is almost here 🙏

And for Indians living in the US, the celebration can feel surprisingly close to home.

From Queens to the Bay Area to Chicago, Ganesh Chaturthi brings people together in a way that goes beyond the ritual itself. A little faith, a little nostalgia, and a lot of familiar faces.

Because sometimes, home is not a place. It is a room full of your people.

You can move abroad.

You can earn in dollars.

But one $16 dosa later, your brain is still doing the conversion. 😭

“₹1,400 for dosa?!”

Some habits just refuse to leave the country with you.

The $4,000 H-1B headlines this week left out the two details that matter most. The employer pays the fee,
not you, and it only applies to employers with 50 or more US staff where more than half the workforce is on
H-1B or L-1. Most employers do not meet both tests. The rule takes effect September 9 and is not retroactive.
Save this and send it to whoever has been spiralling on forums.
