Do you have a vehicle with a screen that just isn’t giving you the modern features you want? We can fix that! This 12 year old GM just got a big technology upgrade with a new CarPlay/Android Auto radio. We used idatalink’s Maestro interface which integrates with the vehicle to keep the existing steering controls, oem amplifiers, and oem cameras. It also adds lots of new features including information gauges, tire pressure status, dual press functionality on the steering control buttons, and more!

Last week I had someone ask if I could make a panel they could mold into their headliner. I took the challenge on and got to work. The first step was laying out the dimensions of the speakers in a way that fit within the constraints of the vehicle. Next was designing an accent panel. He gave me inspiration pictures and I tried to capture his vision as closely as possible. After visualizing the ideas on the computer the next step was to create templates. After those were created I was able to use a router to copy their shapes to the final pieces. I used a router to make a relief to allow hidden LED strips along with adding some visual details to some of the edges. The panels are designed with a gap to allow a perfect fit once wrapped in their final materials. Also added was a rabbeted edge around the outside to give the fabrication materials a clean edge to attach to. I decided to make an example accent panel with my business name, but also shown is a tribute to the customer’s loved one.

I apologize to anyone I’ve missed calls or visits from the past two weeks. I’ve been out of town for an unexpected family emergency.

I appreciate the patience of everyone I’ve communicated with.

Today I finished up a sleek bass package in a new VW Tiguan. The owner wanted more bass than the factory stereo provided but didn’t want to give up much space. We came up with a plan to make a custom-fit enclosure for a 6.5” subwoofer in the side storage area. I was able to squeeze just enough airspace to add a port which helped get more sound out of the small subwoofer. To integrate with the OEM audio signal we used a Wavtech bassRESTOR which connects to the factory speaker signal and adds bass to music that doesn’t have much to start with.

To prevent damage from luggage, groceries, or anything else that may be put in the cargo area, we added a bar grille to the woofer.
