Five years ago today, I unlocked the doors to the very first Aubrey & Oliver storefront. 💛
July 15 would have been our five-year storefront anniversary.
Next month, Aubrey & Oliver celebrates eight years in business—eight years of pop-ups, booths, markets, and memories. But today I’m thinking about the four years we spent inside those storefront walls.
And if I’m honest...I miss it.
I miss my customers. I miss decorating for the holidays, unpacking new arrivals, hosting special events, and all the little moments that made that space feel like home.
There are still mornings when it feels surreal, like maybe I’ll unlock the door, flip on the lights, and Bear and I will spend another day greeting customers.
But when I look back, what I feel most is gratitude.
I got to do something I’d dreamed about since I was 18. I got to open my own storefront, build a place where people felt welcome, and meet incredible people whose kindness I’ll never forget.
Was the storefront ending a failure? I don’t believe it was.
A chapter ended. A dream changed shape. But that doesn’t erase the four wonderful years we had, the community we built, or the joy that came from it.
I’m grateful to The Beach House Market for giving Aubrey & Oliver a new home, and to every customer who still stops by our little booth.
Most of all, thank you—to everyone who has been part of this journey, from the first pop-ups to the storefront and now back to the booth (hopefully a little wiser this time 😉).
Aubrey & Oliver has changed over the years, but the heart of it remains the same. And I’m so thankful it’s still here. 💛
P.S. I almost chose a more polished photo, but this one felt right. It’s me and Bear (who is desperately overdue for a grooming 😂), an unexpected cameo from Lincoln, and a reminder that after everything this last year has held...real feels like the right way to mark this moment.
