In the sea of overpriced items at the local Goodwill, we did find 1 thing that, on the surface, looked like a good deal: a large (and heavy) tub of small toys.

Sure, most will likely go straight to the trash bin. But, we spotted some interesting items and are hoping for a few surprises. At just $8, we couldn’t pass it up.

Stopped by the Farmington MO Goodwill today for the first time in years. Back in 2020–2021 I practically lived there—multiple trips a day, always finding something worth grabbing.

Today? Let’s just say the prophecy fulfilled itself-very high prices along with a few that were straight‑up comedy.

My wife even pointed out an item from a chain store that STILL had the original price tag on it… and, of course, Goodwill wanted more than retail. For a high‑demand collectible, pricing above retail is completely understandable. But this was a tiny Halloween knick‑knack that nobody on Earth is fighting over.

Honestly, I’ll take this sunshine any day over those single‑digit temps we were suffering through just a couple months ago.

Bring on the sun!☀️

Some days this little reselling hustle feels like nothing more than shipping labels, bubble wrap, and chasing down inventory. And then a message like this lands in my inbox.

A buyer who has been buying postcards from me because of a personal family connection just found another one in my store—this time with his father in the photo. He said he was at a loss for words. Honestly, so was I.

Moments like this remind me that reselling isn’t just about moving items or making a few dollars. Sometimes we get to return a piece of someone’s history. Sometimes we get to make a stranger’s day. Sometimes we get to do a little good in the world without even realizing it.

That’s the part of this business you can’t measure in sales charts or shipping metrics. And it’s the part that keeps me going.

Grateful for these unexpected reminders that what we do matters.

Well, that was surprisingly quick…we filed a USPS claim for the damaged brooch (see previous post) on Saturday 3/14/26. This morning, 3/19/26, we received this email stating that we will receive a check for the value of the brooch! Just 5 days to process the claim seems remarkably quick!

Granted, this was the first Ground Advantage claim we’ve ever filed. So, we don’t know if that has any bearing on whether or not the claim was approved. However, we only submitted the 2 photos provided by our buyer (again, see previous post) because we haven’t received the return yet (still waiting for it to be shipped).

Of course, we’ll still be out the postage expense coming and going. We’ll have to wait until the brooch is returned to determine if it can be repaired or if the cost of doing so is prohibitive.

Bottom line, don’t believe all the horror stories you hear about the USPS insurance claims process. Yet, we don’t have check in hand yet!

We always seem to get a return request on our slowest days, because they just don’t suck enough.

At least we will be able to file an insurance claim with USPS for this one.

UPDATE - eBay remove the feedback!

So now buyers expect us to race against other sellers, who likely live closer to the buyer than we do. We shipped this and all orders on time. Good grief!
