★★★★★ FRESH. AUTHENTIC. AND A VERY PLEASANT SURPRISE.

Sometimes the best dining experiences are the ones you don’t see coming.

When we visited The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill in St. Johns, we expected a casual counter-service meal.

What we found was authentic Mediterranean flavor, generous portions, fresh ingredients and a kitchen putting real care into every plate.

The Four Dip Combo got things started, but the house-made hummus quickly stole the show — creamy, bright with garlic and lemon, and so memorable that it earned our Culinary Duo Best of the Best Dish recognition.

Then came flavorful gyros, feta fries, beautifully prepared Atlantic salmon, falafel, Australian Lamb Souvlaki, Garlic Shrimp Souvlaki and, of course, baklava to finish things off.

Great food doesn’t need white tablecloths.

Sometimes all it takes is fresh ingredients, authentic flavors and people who take pride in what they serve.

The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill earned its place on our Favorite Tables Around Town list — and it’s a place we’ll happily return to.
