A Custom Shop Custom Edition

Custom Size 5 built with an Engelmann Spruce top and
Mahogany back and sides, finished with Style 18 appointments
that make this mini Martin an instant classic.

We love these little 5 series guitars tunes up a step and a half (a third). We have had two 5-18 models previously.

The history of the 5 series goes back to the early 1800's in Germany and was then called a Terz (tuned up a third) Guitar. Compsoers in Vienna like Diabelli, Giuliani, Mertz, and others wrote pieces for a Terz guitar in duet with a standard guitar. C.F. Martin brought that tradition with him in 1833.
