So…

We should probably talk about the elephant in the room. 😂

Yes… The Magick Shoppe is becoming The Celestial Mami.

Whether you’ve been here since Friendly Brown Hottie or found me through The Magick Shoppe, this is for you.

Over the past few months you’ve probably noticed things changing around here. New name. New logo. And maybe a little more of me. I just never really explained why.

It honestly started with my health. I had to step away for a while, and as I slowly got better, something unexpected happened.

I didn’t have the same drive to make candles anymore. And honestly, I didn’t want to.

That was really hard for me to admit because I genuinely loved making them. After a lot of baby steps, conversations with friends, an intuitive career coach, and honestly just sitting with myself, I came to one conclusion:

I wasn’t really a shop anymore.

I didn’t want products to be the center of what I was creating. I wanted to get back to what I loved before I ever started making candles: learning, exploring, writing, and sharing what I discovered.

At first I thought maybe that meant going back to Friendly Brown Hottie.

But honestly… that name didn’t fit anymore either.

Friendly Brown Hottie came from a season of my life after having my son. I didn’t really feel like myself, so I named my blog after the woman I was trying to become. I wanted to manifest feeling confident, beautiful, and honestly… hot again. 😂

And I’m happy to say…

I think she did exactly what she was supposed to do.

The Celestial Mami feels like a space that reflects who I am today, while leaving room for who I’m still becoming. It gives me room to share everything I naturally spend my time learning about… or whatever rabbit hole I’m down that week.

The shop is taking a little pause while I figure out what’s next.

Took a little magick field trip to in South Pasadena 🔮
They’ve got range — tarot and oracle decks I already own, plus so many I’ve never seen before.

For the past few months Pluto’s been retrograde, pulling me into the deep end.

I had to sit with the parts of myself that crave control, that cling to structure, that equate doing with worth. I had to face how much of my drive came from survival, not softness.

Pluto retrograde asked me:

“What if your transformation doesn’t need to look like suffering?”

Now that Pluto is direct, I’m realizing something: the work continues, but the way I approach it is different.

I’m learning how to rebuild from peace instead of panic. To create from alignment instead of urgency. To still desire more, but move slower, steadier, softer.

This is what I call The Soft Work.
It’s what happens when the healing becomes embodied, when you stop chasing transformation and start living it.

Soft Work isn’t about giving up ambition.
It’s about reimagining what power feels like after you’ve faced your shadows.
It’s choosing self-trust over self-punishment. Boundaries over burnout.

Pluto direct feels like exhaling after years of holding my breath.

A reminder that power doesn’t always roar, sometimes it whispers. 🌙

Not every season is about healing.

Sometimes you’re letting go of what no longer fits.

Sometimes you’re unlearning patterns that took years to build.

Other times you’re just breathing, keeping it together, and trusting the wave will pass.

And that still counts as growth.
