Thursday we boarded the plane and said goodbye to the UK💔Wow it feels as if our trip went by so fast! Adding in some fun pics of our group getting ready to board the train, and at a fun pub in Scotland.
Do you think we ended up fitting all the books we bought in our bags??
That’s not even all of them 😂. Even spotted some more great titles in the airport, I actually like the UK cover of The Correspondent better!
After what we thought would just be a routine flight home we had a nightmare of an experience getting back home due to a delay on our Scotland flight replacing a fuel pump. Making it almost impossible to get home. After several flights and 20+ hours of travel and a time change we have finally gotten home ❤️ Excited to get back to our readers and customers at the store to share our amazing trip first hand!
On the positive side, what a top tier group to travel with. These ladies were all so amazing and we enjoyed our time with each and every one them so much. It’s so sad not to meet them all down at the lobby and go off an adventure for the day. Thank you for a fantastic trip and to our wonderful guide Joanna who was amazing as well!!❤️❤️❤️🇫🇷🇬🇧

Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Day 3- Wednesday was the final day of our literary tour.
Some history facts for you- We got to explore The Real Mary King’s Close. Under the current city of Edinburgh on the Royal Mile was another original city with a network of 16-17th century alleyways (“closes”) and tenement homes. It was once open air, but now built over in the 1700s sealing off the lower buildings underneath the current city dwelling. That’s us with Eliza and Heather in the “close”. There were also some great books about Scotland’s history we found exciting along the way!
We enjoyed a fun lunch at an authentic Scottish Pub called the Royal Mile Tavern with some delicious food!
We visited a great bookshop, Topping & Company and lucked out with a signed copy of Hannah Kaner’s new book! Olivia was excited to read that one on the plane ride back, as well as Barbara Erskine’s The Valley of Ravens.
We even spotted Theo of Golden too! Glad to see it’s just as popular overseas too!!

Edinburgh Day 2🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Yesterday we explored Edinburgh Castle, Visited St. Giles Cathedral, shopped and lunched along the Royal Mile, had a delicious dinner just us two, stumbled upon a sweet little bookshop, did some more shopping, and turned in early for a nice cup of tea. ☕️
Our final trip day was today. What parts of our trip have you enjoyed seeing the most so far?

Scotland🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Arrival Day Yesterday - A bit of a long travel day for us! We took a 4 hour train ride to Edinburgh, had a celebratory toast, then had a delicious dinner at Howies, did a little sight seeing, and then ended the night with a ghost tour that started out in an old graveyard…👻

Yesterday was our final day in London🇬🇧. It was so bittersweet. We are excited to finally be in Edinburgh, but loved our final day so much. We explored Kensington Palace, one of the few palaces that allows you to take pictures inside. Princess Diana loved Kensington and made it her permanent residence after her divorce from (now) King Charles III. Many royals enjoyed this palace such as King George II and his wife Caroline, and it was where Queen Victoria was born and the home she grew up in. We had a gorgeous time exploring the grounds and gardens as well.
We also got the chance to explore the famous Buckingham Palace which was a little underwhelming in person! (Smaller than it seems too.😄)
We ended the night with a delicious 3 course meal- and a show! We saw SIX the musical and it was absolutely INCREDIBLE!!!

London Day 4-Yesterday we took the train to Windsor Castle and enjoyed Queen Mary’s Dollhouse (Olivia’s personal favorite) and the State Rooms inside the castle🏰. How fascinating to see the offical estate of the royal family. We had a lovely tea, some shopping, Jelly Cat hunting (if you know you know) and relaxed with room service for the rest of the night.😊 We had a BIG day today, Buckingham Palace as well as SIX The Musical! Stay tuned for more pictures!
Busy reading all of our books too…..📖 book haul coming at the end of the trip!

A busy day yesterday on Friday for the Litchfield Books Owners! We hit up some fabulous fellow bookshops, Heywood Hill- the famous bookshop where Nancy Mitford worked during the 1940s, and where Eliza’s book THE MAYFAIR BOOKSHOP is set! What a lovely store with such kind employees.
We also visited Hatchards (a second time), with equally nice and incredible staff, and bought way too many books at both shops!! Spotted a few friends in the wild- Louisa Treger’s new book, Chris Bohjalian’s THE AMATEUR, as well as Ariel Lawhon’s new THE PIRATE QUEEN- all with fabulous UK covers!
We also visited the Tower of London, go to our Instagram to see a video of the memorial of where Anne Boleyn was executed as well as the Ravens🐦‍⬛. Ended the night with pizza!
Today we took the train to Windsor Castle! Photos to come 💂🏰

Yesterday we saw Prince Harry’s Regiment-The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment in Whitehall, a newly unveiled plinth, an official Telephone Booth photo with Eliza & Heather☎️, Benjamin Franklin’s former residence, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, Old Queen Street Cafe for lunch, and The Victoria and Albert museum (the jewelry was our favorite). We ended the night with a dinner cruise on the Thames.
