Join me as I make a scan of the streets of Pawtucket using a and a bicycle! I'm uploading the data to Mapillary because I want everyone to have access to street view imagery that can be used by folks like the Pawtucket DPW. Usually the city would pay tons of money to a company that does sign and infrastructure inventory to make maps of where repairs need to be done, where signs are missing or pavement conditions. But why spend that kind of money when we can do it ourselves for free and while having more fun?

Margaret Bailey Rosenbaum has always loved maps and she's been painting on them almost as long. "Maps from the Road" is a beautiful, award winning series from Margaret's 'Bright Spot Studio' in Plymouth Massachusetts and I'm thrilled that two of her pieces are going on display at The Map Center.
Come see them!

Come join us at the Millbury Public Library for a free family friendly activity hosted by yours truly!
Its called A Map for a Cat and it's a fun, silly activity that has a surprising amount to teach us about how and why we use maps. You won't look at another one the same way again!

*POP POP*
Who said comparison is the their of joy? What if it were a wonderful, nerdy source of joy?
A new beautiful book just arrived and it's all about the relative size, speed, pressure, volume etc of all kinds of stuff in our universe. It's perfect for nerdy, curious teens.

Reminds me of my old podcast Measure for Measure!

Jeffrey Linn at Conspiracy of Cartographers makes maps of a climate-changed future on top of vintage gas station road maps and explores why "just a map" is usually oil company propaganda.
