There is something incredibly satisfying about watching quilting stitches bring a quilt top to life. ❤️

Piecing may create the design, but quilting adds an entirely new layer—texture, movement and personality.
And yes...I can happily stand here and watch this machine stitch much longer than I probably should. 😂

Whether I'm finishing one of my own quilts or quilting for a client, this is still one of my favorite parts of the process.

Quick Tip: When your blocks aren't quite the same size

Ever finish a set of quilt blocks only to discover they aren't quite the same size? 🙋‍♀️

Before you start sewing them into rows, take a few minutes to measure.

If the difference is small, sometimes a little careful trimming can get everything back on track. But if a block is noticeably undersized, don't keep trimming the others smaller just to make it match. Take a look at your seam allowances and figure out where the difference came from first.

A few minutes spent checking now can save a whole lot of wrestling with seams later.

Quilt Confidence Tip: Measure first. Trim second. Sew third. 🧵

🧵 Your quilt points don't match. Now what?

A) Grab the seam ripper.
B) Keep sewing.
C) Stare at it for five minutes hoping it'll somehow fix itself. 😂

The answer isn't always A.

Part of building Quilt Confidence is learning when accuracy really matters—and when a tiny imperfection isn't worth taking your quilt apart over.

That's what we're talking about in my latest blog: mismatched points, pressing, trimming, fixing mistakes and figuring out when it's time to rip…and when it's perfectly okay to KEEP SEWING. ❤️

🧵 Your quilt points don't match. Now what?

Do you grab the seam ripper—or just keep sewing? 😬

The answer isn't always rip it out.
In my latest Quilt Confidence post, we're talking about when accuracy matters, when fixing it now will save frustration later, and when it's perfectly okay to say “good enough” and keep going. ❤️

🌸 Not sure what fabrics go together? Let one fabric make the first decision.

Pick a print you love and really look at the colors inside it. Then pull coordinating fabrics from those colors, adding a mix of lighter, darker and quieter prints.

Suddenly you're not trying to invent a color palette from scratch—you're following the roadmap that's already in the fabric. 🧵

Less guessing. More quilting.

✂️ QUILT CONFIDENCE QUICK TIP

When you're cutting or trimming, put the ruler line ON the fabric edge—not beside it.

That tiny difference may not look like much on one cut, but those little fractions can add up across an entire quilt block.

Accurate quilting isn't about perfection. It's about giving yourself fewer little problems to fix later. 😉

🧵 A little longarm therapy tonight...

This T-shirt quilt is officially on the longarm, and this is the stage where I get to watch all those individual pieces start becoming one finished quilt. ❤️

Different shirts. Different colors. Different memories. One continuous quilting design tying it all together.

There’s just something satisfying about watching those stitches roll across each shirt and into the next. 😍

Next stop: binding!

🧵 QUILT LOVERS—DON’T MISS THIS! 🧵

The Kentucky State Fair wraps up THIS SUNDAY, August 30, so if you haven’t made it to the quilt exhibit yet, time is running out! ⏰

There were SO many beautiful quilts on display that choosing favorites wasn’t easy, but here are a few that stopped me in my tracks. ❤️ The colors, the piecing, the quilting, the creativity...there is some incredible talent hanging in that room!

And yes...somewhere in there you might just spot a quilt from A Ribbon Run Thru It, too. 😉🧵

If the fair is on your weekend plans, make sure you leave time for the quilts!
