One year ago, an opportunity landed in our hands that we simply couldn’t walk away from.
Were we sure it would work? Absolutely not.
What if Pendleton didn’t need what we were creating?
What if the community didn’t support us?
What if this big idea of ours simply… didn’t work?
But sometimes you have to do it scared anyway.
And we are so incredibly thankful we did.
From the very beginning, Pendleton and the surrounding Madison County community welcomed us with open arms. You shopped with us. You told your friends about us. You shared our posts. You supported the small businesses inside these walls. You came back again and again—and somewhere along the way, this beautiful old storefront became so much more than a store.
It became our Mercantile.
Today, our hearts are especially full. We saw so many familiar faces walk through our doors, along with so many new ones. You came to celebrate this little milestone with us, and looking around at a busy store today, it was hard not to think about how nervous we were one year ago.
If only we could go back and tell ourselves, just wait.
Thank you to our incredible team who pours so much into this place. Thank you to the talented small businesses who trust us with their products, their creativity and a piece of their dreams.
And most of all, thank you, Pendleton. Thank you, Madison County.
