With my father’s recent passing, I can’t help but think about how proud he was of the bread game we built.
We followed in the footsteps of IKatic Breads here in Central Illinois and helped pioneer the artisan bread movement long before it became what it is today. For years, we sold out within an hour. People lined up not just for bread, but for tradition, culture, family, craftsmanship, and a little piece of love baked into every loaf.
Those early mornings, long days, and countless conversations weren’t just about making bread. They were about carrying on a legacy, honoring where we came from, and sharing that passion with our community.
Looking back now, I realize the bread was only part of it. The real gift was building something meaningful alongside a man who taught me the value of hard work, pride, and pursuing excellence in your craft.
I miss you, OG.
