DEAR FACEBOOK FRIENDS AND FOLLOWERS,
I have been talking with one of my friends Tony who I met on Facebook. He is a retired welder trying to keep busy. You can find his page listed under Tony Welder. Please go to his page, like it and follow it to get future updates from him as well. In addition you will have a chance to see all the great stuff that he builds for his clients. He does excellent work!
We both like the idea of teaching others who are into the metal trades or who desire to get into it. We want to host an instructional seminar on some topics of the metal working trade at my place, Bottoms Fabrication in Peoria. The date has not been set but it will be after the New Year. We thought we would start a poll among our network of friends and followers to help us plan a starting point.
Nothing has been planned yet as how we will proceed. It will depend on the feedback we get from those who would like to participate. We have not figured out such things as logistics, space limitations, etc. as this will depend on the response. We do anticipate however that there will be broad interest and that since space will be limited (can’t have 100 people showing up for example), it will be necessary to confirm attendance. If there is any that desires to help organize this activity and others that may follow, message us and let us know. Please respond to the following questions.
1) What would you like to see or learn about? It’s OK if it’s more than one topic.
2) How long do you think these seminars/presentations/demos should last?
3) What is the best day and time of the week for you?
4) Any other comment, observation or related ideas?

PURPOSE OF THE PRESENTATIONS
This social / seminar (and any that follow) are for the purpose of helping to share knowledge between metal craftsmen (and ladies) / welders regardless of time or level in the metal trades. This is also open to those who are not in any of the metal trades but who wish to get exposed or expose their children or friends to it. By metalworking we mean any trade or craft that involves the joining of metal primarily via arc or torch this includes the forming of metal in the process of fabricating. This makes this effort very broad and it is hoped it will facilitate the sharing and passing of knowledge and skill between and among the participant, the older generation of welders and fabricators and the younger generation. Its motivation comes from people in the metal crafts who see it as important to spend the time to help facilitate this vision.
These presentation and any other activity that results from them are open to all who desire to attend and no one will be denied participation unless of course they are disruptive or otherwise interfering with the carrying out of the planned activities.
It is possible that this effort may result in other activities unplanned or unforeseen as participants meet and become acquainted. We encourage such activity as an extension of the vision we have of sharing knowledge.
MONEY
There will be no charge for the presentations unless it calls for the purchase of certain materials or other costs associated with a particular planned activity. For example purchasing a particular welding rod for a particular demonstration, etc. or A plasma cutting demonstration is planned and the need to buy some consumables to replace those used.
While participants will have their various political, ideological or religious viewpoints, this shall not influence the purpose nor direction of these activities. One important aspect of this effort should be that this is being done in order to help each other and help ourselves and that it should not become a chore. We should have fun and they should be enjoyable, something to look forward to.
