Unlike traditional quilting, with a rag quilt the wrong sides are sewn together, leaving the ends exposed. I then hand snip the ends and the quilt is laundered. Once the quilt is washed, those ends become frayed and soft. The more you wash it the more frayed and soft it will become. The back side will mirror the front but will be “finished” versus “ragged”.
