Bookstores? and Bars? Book yeah! Let's Go!

Saturday, May 2, 2026, we are jumping on the Big Red Bus and hitting the local Peoria Metro area! We'll leave from the Peoria Book Rack parking lot after 9 am.

We'll leave the parking lot by no later than 9:30 am and head to Pekin, Illinois to visit the adorable bookstore that supports local cat adoptions, Tails of a Bookworm.

From there we will head to Creve Coeur/East Peoria to Whitey's BBQ at Crusen's where you can choose to sit in their nice outdoor patio area or inside. Grab some lunch, a few drinks and enjoy a great conversation with other book lovers.

Here are the rest of the places we would like to attend (not necessarily in this order and may change as we get places confirmed):

Book Nook Washington

Matilda's Cocktail Lounge (70's themed bar in downtown Peoria)

Peoria Book Rack

Somewhere for dessert!

Book Nook Peoria

We have 40 spaces available - $50 per spot. This includes the bus ride to and from all spots and back to the PBR parking lot around 6 pm that night. Everyone receives a free goodie bag, we'll be doing raffles for FREE prizes (we usually do 1-2 between each stop), and a Bookshop Passport that one lucky person will win a basket full of bookish fun!

We'll also have bottled water on the bus! You may bring a small cooler with alcoholic beverages on the bus, as well as snacks, etc!

UPDATE: We did cancel this trip. I know it was tough to do both this trip and Bookfest. So we will reschedule a bus trip in 2026.

We still need to sell at least 22 more spots for this bus trip, or we have to cancel it. If you would like to join us, please go to novelgetawayspbr.com to reserve your spot. We have until October 17 to decide.

It's going to be fun so if you want to join us, we would love to have you! :)
