Orange schools improve on state's report card with one B and the rest A's
Orange received eight A's and one B on this year's state report card, compared to one C and two B's last year.
"We are very proud of our overall results on the 2014 Ohio Department of Education school district report card," said Superintendent Edwin Holland.
The report cards, issued Friday by the Ohio Department of Education, use A-F grades to measure aspects of education, including Orange's B in the category that measure's performance of racial and disability groups.
This year's report cards were predicted to have fewer A's than in years past. The state increased the bar for schools to be proficient in different grades and in different subjects, from 75 percent of students to 80 percent.
In Orange, the district of 2,073 students, received an F last year in the same category it now has a B in.
"We will use this data to build upon the district's success, address our challenges, and provide students with engaging educational experiences," the superintendent said.
The district met all 24 state standards.
