🏺You really need to understand how good this is going to be. I love these two humans with all my heart, suze lindsay and Vince Montague are absolutely amazing, compassionate, creative, hilarious, and wells of wisdom, and their stories of resilience, grief, and compassion told through clay and the written word are profound. It’s rare that we get to be witness to such a beautiful, maybe once in a lifetime, dynamic such as this. We’re not only proud that it will take place at our teaching studio Petaluma Pottery Studio , I can say without question that this is the one workshop I’d like to attend more than any other this year, I’m proud to be here for this, and to introduce a few people to these wonderful souls working together!

CLASS DESCRIPTION
Inspiration comes from many sources, especially ourselves. Join Vince and Suze as they open up their studio practices to share their creative strategies behind the how and the why of their functional and sculptural work. This workshop will explore how curiosity becomes form, how vulnerability becomes strength, and how making can be an act of resilience. This workshop will draw upon our own stories and imagery to generate new pathways for work through playful experimentation and improvisation. Each artist will share strategies and techniques to support ideas that come to us from writing and drawing. On the second day of the workshop we will investigate surface design that speak to the life of the maker behind the work. This experience is for all levels and partially hands on, so bring your sketchbook for writing and drawing to be inspired to create new ceramic work about personal form and imagery.

I love to tinker and come up with new tools for the studio. Sharing this fountain glazer hack from an old slip casting table for glazing interiors. I also made an adapter that gives us the option to pour glaze from a tube for the outside of larger pots from the same set up.

I absolutely love our Soundwave Number 9 tiles. This pattern never ceases to mesmerize me, and I’m so happy that it is going into a new project by one of our favorite restaurants !!!

I haven’t been as active here lately, it’s been a combination of things, mostly that I’ve been so active getting things done in real life, and partially just the state of the world (in particular my country) has been a big distraction. Though I’ve been distant here, things this summer have been moving along at a steady pace. We have expanded our community studio and our production, adding space and membership, which included me leveling a concrete floor, moving walls, adding equipment, doorways, and building tables, and through it all we have had no shortage of tile orders! Pottery has been moving at a good pace, and my collaborations with have continued to be a highlight! Having both my daughters under one roof after Mira’s first year at University of VT is so nice! I also taught an amazing workshop at Idyllwild, followed by 12 days in New England, on the coast of Maine with Beth’s family, including great hikes and a visit to on our way to Vermont, making a stop to take a nostalgic pic of the farm that i spent the first four years of my life, and a few nights on my favorite piece of land owned by some of my closest friends, followed by a bike ride to the spot Beth and I got married four years ago! Needless to say, summer isn’t even halfway through and my typical active life isnt slowing down. If you keep an eye out, you might be seeing more of me as I plan to be posting more, and becoming more active now that I’ve had some time to catch my breath! I’ll be doing a tour of our new studio updates soon for those of you who have always been curious and supportive of the many hats i wear!
