Garlic and rose hips are powerful antimicrobials that supports our respiratory and immune health. To receive the benefits, garlic should be crushed and used raw. Many folks have trouble ingesting raw garlic (it can be hard on the tummy!), so here is a traditional oxymel recipe using common ingredients found in the kitchen!
You will need: Apple C***r Vinegar, Honey, Garlic and Rosehips.
Directions:
Crush each clove from an entire bulb of garlic with the side of your knife. Then chop into small pieces. Let sit while you move onto the next step.
Add 2 Tbls. rosehips to a saucepan along with 12 ounces of apple c***r vinegar. (Rosehips are high in Vitamin C, but you can substitute any kitchen spice for the rosehips. Thyme, Rosemary, and Oregano also support immune health).
Bring to a boil and turn down to a slow simmer, covered for 15 minutes.
Remove from heat and add crushed and chopped garlic.
Let sit for an hour or so to cool.
Line a strainer with cheesecloth (or a cloth napkin) and place over a bowl. Strain the liquid well, squeezing the cloth to get every last bit of goodness. Discard the solids.
Add equal parts of honey to the garlicy vinegar and store in a glass bottle with a non-metalic lid.
Take 2 tablespoons daily, or a scant shotglass. You can also add this to salad dressings and marinades.

Dearest Yarrow, 🌱
Thank you for mending our bones, clearing our lungs and stopping our blood flow from wounds. 🌱
You have been a true herbal ally, rescuing us from the depths of winter as we rush into spring and summer, often tripping, with hurt knees. You are there with your white flowers and fern like leaves, offering blood tonic and easing our menstrual cramps.
In love we plant your seeds, we sing to you in our gardens, and we greet you in the meadows with respect. 🌱
With gratitude,
the herbalists and plant witches 🌱
