Is anyone looking for an impressive, yet super simple dessert to make for your summer gatherings? Here it is.....
Triple Berry English Trifle (Gold Medal Winner at the Harvest Fair)
1 homemade or purchased angle food cake torn or cut into cubes (about 1 ½ inches in diameter)
Cream together 1 small package instant vanilla pudding, 2/3 cups milk (more can be added if cream is too stiff), 1 small container lemon yogurt (not low fat) and 1 can sweetened condensed milk. Stir above ingredients until smooth and then fold in one small container of room temperature cool whip.
Fruit! It's really up to you what and how much to use. I usually use Strawberries, Raspberries, Blackberries and Blueberries (yes, I use 4 and not 3 like the recipe says but then again, I'm an overachiever!!!!). I cut some pretty Strawberries slices and pull out some nicer pieces of whole fruit for the top. The rest of the fruit goes in between the rows. I would normally buy one 8 ounce package of Strawberries and 6 ounces of each of the other berries. Peaches also work well.
In a glass bowl, layer 1/3 cake, 1/3 pudding, and some fruit (a mixture of berries works very well or berries and peaches). Repeat layers ending with fruit. Refrigerate for at least 24 hours.
As far as the container....you can usually find trifle bowls online but they can be expensive but if you look hard enough you can usually find one for under $20. And after you make this once, and seeing how amazing and impressive it is you will be making a good investment.....because you will make it all the time. You can also use a pretty bowl, it will still taste amazing although it won't look as impressive. If you are really in a pinch and want to use an authentic Trifle Bowl, I will loan you one (you have to promise to return it to me). If you have any questions.....message me. If you make it, please post a picture!!!!!!
