As we approach the summer season and waders get donned/boats head north by anglers from all over the country please, please, please make sure to thoroughly clean and sanitize your gear before entering our waterways! Rivers and Lakes are naturally fragile to invasive species and plant life. We need to make sure that we take the extra step to keep our Northern Michigan waters clean and invasive free!
It takes little to no time at all to make a 1% bleach solution and spray down and scrub waders and boats and allow them to completely dry before your trip to a new watershed. This should be done between adjacent rivers in the same area as well! We can all do better to protect what natural resources we have!

River advocates and environmental regulators intend to fan out across northern Lower Michigan in coming months and figure out everywhere blooms of invasive “rock snot” algae threaten otherwise pristine, freshwater streams.
